but its the neocons who are proud of their K shaped economy and think layig everyone off is awesome, for Nazi reasons. Not in SoCal.
The outrageously expensive urban villages have popped up all over the place, particularly by the Fullerton train station. And these are full of mostly young professionals driving Teslas. Still, the mass of the big cities, Los Angeles, San Bernardino, San Diego - remain shitholes full of homeless and illegals. Dangerous and dirty.
Suburbs have always been working class. They arose due to the demand of the middle class to own their own homes. The left opposes property ownership by the middle class, and in reality opposes the middle class itself. The left wants government housing for all with no private ownership. These urban villages with stores and starbucks on premise are meant to make the prospect of never owning one's own home more appealing. But only a tiny minority of very high wage earners will ever live in such places. A 1 bedroom by Fullerton Station runs $5,200 per month. Those near Union Station in L.A. have similar outrageous rents.
But let us be VERY clear regarding the congenital racism that permeates zoning and suc is a significant factor here. That is a historical fact and current reality that cannot be diminished via generalized economic overview. I'm NOT saying you are of that mindset, I'm just making a point. What needs to happen today imo, is the changing of many zoning laws in neighborhoods.
I get it, when someone moves into a single-family neighborhood they don’t really want ot to change because you were moving into that neighborhood for a reason.
But if we’re trying to bring down prices and make more neighborhoods accessible, these zoning laws need to change.
Having worked on developments in the Bay Area and been to many planning commission meetings over zoning and new development, there are consistent things I see.But let us be VERY clear regarding the congenital racism that permeates zoning and suc is a significant factor here. You keep making thst accusation. But you can't copy and paste or link one sentence of mine that proves you right in no uncertain terms. That makes you a liar.
And since you can't do the same regarding Guno, that doubles your dishonesty. The memes just confirm your adolescent stupidity.
And again, you make false accusations and revisionist clap trap as to what has transpired. The projection of your limited and bigoted mentality is there for all to see
In short, you're just another dumb, attention starved maga/alt-right troll no longer worth engaging. See you in a month or so

find a rebuttal, Traitor Joe.Seriously, go back on your meds.

2 types of NIMBY ... one where people in general oppose projects as you describe, and then people oppose projects where the majority of population is minority, the project would displace residents and/or local business and/or icrease pollution and congestion. Such projects have a habit of ALWAYS end up in minority heavy areas (I can only speak for the NYC area). Marrer of history, matter of fact.Having worked on developments in the Bay Area and been to many planning commission meetings over zoning and new development, there are consistent things I see.
The first is opposition is based on increased traffic and the changing of neighborhood character and then property values. That's why they oppose increased density and eliminating single family zoning. NIMBYism is a bi-partisan thing but if we're talking the Bay Area we're talking a much more liberal crowd. And this crowd will include people of color. And they'll say this has nothing to do with race. I've seen people who have a known history of fighting for civil rights, fighting against zoning changes and new development in their area. And they'll see no inconsistency in that position.
And then you'll have people who oppose new development and zoning changes saying it's rich greedy developers who want to build. That certainly tugs on the heartstrings of some. So again, is that just a cover for latent racism? Certainly possible.
You see first hand battles in NYC over new (market rate) development. How much of the opposition would you equate to racism?
So let's say it's not the environmental justice argument, just your run of the mill NIMBYism. How much of that would you generally attribute to racism?2 types of NIMBY ... one where people in general oppose projects as you describe, and then people oppose projects where the majority of population is minority, the project would displace residents and/or local business and/or icrease pollution and congestion. The Trumptards pushing the propaganda that since we elected a black man president once that racism is over.JPP has been host to a plethora of folk who have their own versions of America's congenital racism .... mostly denial if not out right attempts at justification.
Well, I came across this on FaceBook, and just couldn't resist throwing some HISTORICAL FACTS into the conversation (facts being akin to sunlight to a vampire for the aforementioned folks). The reactions are going to range from predictable to the absurd, but (God forgive me) I just couldn't resist. Enjoy!

Oh yeah that's just as bad as calling black majority countries "shithole countries". What else you got trumptard? You mean like when brandon said, Black kids are as smart as rich kids?
Yeah good luck with that terry is nothing but a trumptard Trump cards cannot face facts actual facts are poison to them.Right on cue, TA. You should read content carefully and comprehensively, as your own links demonstrate a comedy/ information show that was 85 to 90% accurate in its information and readily accepted criticism by admitting when wrong. It got canned by bean counters in a merger, NOT because it was as you claimed "biased opinion slanted to the left".
Here's your challenge; factually and logically disprove the facts of the video in the OP. I dare you.
You're comparing liberals and how they regard suburbs to a political party who is employing McCarthyism and throwing people in concentration camps due to their skin color and lack of social standing.Honest question, do liberals know it? It's like density in urban areas. People can tell you climate change is an existential crisis and agree that density around public transportation is better for the environment, but that can all go out the window when the proposed density is near them.
The same with housing (zoning) in the suburbs. People can give lip service to the exclusionary history of zoning but again, it can all go out the window when it comes to their neighborhood.
The example I use is one home can have an I Love Trump sign in front and next door can I have an I Hate Trump sign, but those two people will walk hand in hand to a planning commission meeting to fight changes in zoning, or a new development, in their neighborhood.
All principles often go out the window when it comes to peoples homes and their neighborhood.
I wasn't aware housing wasn't a stand alone issue, that the history of zoning and planning laws can only be viewed through a partisan geopolitical perspective. You're comparing liberals and how they regard suburbs to a political party who is employing McCarthyism and throwing people in concentration camps due to their skin color and lack of social standing.
Apples and oranges my friend.
In all seriousness though, it's pretty fascinating that the history of zoning and the importance it's had on the country including from both a racial and class perspective is all basically irrelevant because, you know, Trump. You're comparing liberals and how they regard suburbs to a political party who is employing McCarthyism and throwing people in concentration camps due to their skin color and lack of social standing.

Thanks. I prefer bourbon.I wasn't aware housing wasn't a stand alone issue, that the history of zoning and planning laws can only be viewed through a partisan geopolitical perspective.
Dude, it would be freaking awesome if you came to SF to participate in the next planning commission meeting over zoning and new developments and got up to speak and said "Trump's a Nazi".
You'd actually probably get a lot of agreement but after the initial laughter the commissioner would say "this is about zoning sir". And you could respond "don't try to play that moral equivalent game with me, mister. He's a Nazi."
Come on man, I'll even buy you a drink after.
