The Kurds would defend Kurdistan, not drive a thousand miles into Iran. They might take they tiny bit of land where Kurdistan and Iran overlap, but they are not going a thousand miles into Iran. A thousand miles into Iran they would be treated as invaders, coming from an entirely different culture. And more importantly would be leaving their families undefended.

But what if trump begged them to? trump betrayed the Kurds 7 years ago. People in this region have long memories, so 7 years ago is practically yesterday. They will not do him any favors. They will not trust that he would pay them. They will not trust that he will not allowed their families to be killed again.

The Turks pounded the Kurds repeatedly. The Iraqis also pounded them on occasion. The Iranians were among the nicest to them, relatively speaking, which is a very low bar to get over.
