A Defense of a Liberal Arts Education

I'm not here to talk about the events of my life with strangers. I generally only share personal anecdotes with friends.

It obviously really triggers you that most of America's best research universities are located in the north-northeast and California. That fact is going to be true irrespective of me or anything I post. It's simply true independent of me.

Rankings of just public not private universities has a few in the top ten. UF is like #1 in terms of quality and price.......

Just because you can name some schools, does not mean you could have ever gone there. Whereas I could have gone to most of them!
You claim to be Ivy League material, eh?

I didn't have Ivy League grades, and of the three universities I attended none cracked the US News Top 30.

My three universities were ranked #32, #42, and #143.

Damn it, the other three universities I was accepted to but didn't attend wouldn't crack the top 30 either.
I've got them at #36, #88, and #117.

You definitely know your Steelers!

You remember Najee Harris. He went to high school at Antioch High which is about 30 minutes outside of Oakland.

A guy I grew up with teaches there and Najee was in one of his classes.

Najee was the number one recruit in the country his senior year. My friend was telling me about the day Nick Saban came to campus while recruiting him. He said the whole school was just buzzing.

I also love your new wide receiver Michael Pittman. He went to USC and is a stud.
I loved Najee Harris and was so p.o.'d when the Steelers made him a free agent. He's with the Giants this year; hope it works out for him.

The latest on Pittman is that he may be out on IR because he didn't practice today. I hope he works out for us. Metcalf didn't look stellar on Sunday.

You probably heard about Najee's background, being homeless for a period of time. He's set up a foundation to help kids like him. You can't do anything but root for him.

I wasn't aware about Pittman being hurt. Well that sucks!

Totally random, but this made me think of Snoop Dog growing up a Steelers because he watch them in the '70's.

Did you go to Florida or are you just a fan?

(My folks went to the 2007 national championship game. My mom still hates the lady sitting directly behind her who chanted 'Ohio State Gator Bait' the entire game. Haha.)
I grew up right outside of Gville and both parents went to UF (dropped out to get married) I have two degrees from UF and worked on campus four years as a student. My daughter graduated from UF and my youngest is gonna try to transfer in. I cant imagine that OSU woman was still chanting in the 4th qtr after we had destroyed them. I missed that game but saw the Oklahoma game in Miami for our third title......I even flew to Arizona to see Nebraska crush us in 97. Sadly, I saw every Sugar Bowl game Spurrier took us to EXCEPT the one where he crushed FSU for our first title. My ex wife never lets me forget it........

From you.
You openly wrote that you follow me around, read my threads, and are very interested in me. I don't have any doubt that you also lurk the Owl thread to see what Owl and Dutch are writing
All that person does is write insults. A waste.

To be clear on the Ohio State - Florida game story, my family has deep roots at Ohio State (multiple generations) so the lady sitting behind my folks chanting that was a Florida fan.

That's great history you have with the school and I remember all your '90's games against Tennessee (what was Spurrier's great line "you can't spell Citrus without UT").

This is random but I saw Tebow speak at a church (this was a few years back). He was absolutely dynamic. His energy and presence was off the charts. And I remember he found out one of the people working there went to FSU and he just ripped on them (in a friendly way).

I don't know if I knew that Florida is as good of a school as it is. Has it always been that way or improved in more recent times?
