So essentially he wants an American version of "state media" akin to Russia, North Korea, China or the plethora of authoritarian countries of which he has expressed admiration in the past. Why is anyone alarmed that he's pulling this just shy of the mid-terms and about 2 years away from the 2028 Presidential elections?
 
The First Amendment text says: “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.”

Trump never advocated for a 'state media', Libby. Stop making shit up.
He has all the authority he needs to ban any media outlet from the White House.
