Yes, they were very clever people who were rewarded for working hard and being smart. They would have made even better money had they not served the public.
Nope. They all profited from massive insider trading from their own lawmaking decisions, i.e. they used their position to enrich themselves ... every single one of them.

Biden - His father was a salesman, clearly middle class upbringing. Public college on academic scholarships.
Did Joe Biden have an academic scholarship ?

In 1987, Biden said he had attended Syracuse Law on a “full academic scholarship.” After his academic records were released, they showed that he had actually received a half scholarship based on financial need, not a full merit/academic scholarship. Biden subsequently acknowledged that his earlier statements about his academic record were “inaccurate”.

Ok, are you complaining that a president lied?

Trump - Elitist!!! wealthy father, boarding school, father got him into her college, poor grades, never had a job his father didn’t get him until the presidency.

Harris - single parent family home, decidedly middle class, put herself through law school, worked various jobs that she got on her own merit.

Biden - His father was a salesman, clearly middle class upbringing. Public college on academic scholarships. Worked for the government as a public defender.

Obama - Born to working class single mother, started at state schools but scholarships to Harvard. Started with a low paying job as a community organizer. Married highly paid Michelle.

Jarod, I know you’re not responding and that’s totally your right but i’m still trying to understand your position here vis a vis Obama‘s education.

He went to Punahou which depending on the ranking is either Hawaii’s best, or second best, school that today has a cost of $34K/yr.

He then went to Occidental which is an elite liberal arts school that costs $95K/yr: He then went to Columbia before going to Harvard Law.

We you just mistaken on his background or did you feel the need to purposely misrepresent it?

There’s a pattern.
Historically when I think of working class you think of someone who didn't go to college who went and worked in a factory, or was a plumber etc. Archie Bunker would be an example.

Now we're defining working class as having parents who met in college and have PhD's and Masters degrees.

I know the meaning of words can change over time, but this is an interesting one. I shared my parents background. It would be like me going around saying I'm from a working class background. Most people would look at me and say WTF?!

He had a scholarship to Punahou. Some sites said he had a scholarship to Occidental but others said no. He had a scholarship to Columbia also.

No doubt, there are a number of kids that go to elite schools that don't pay full freight. Some get aid, some get grants/scholarships.

But I've never heard of private schools called state schools. To my understanding, state schools have always referred to public schools.

There's really two different discussions that can be had. There's growing up in a household with or without money. But that's really separate from how working class has traditionally been defined. Working class was more about education and occupation.

I offer my story again. My father was in grad school when I was born. He didn't yet have his PhD. My mom had graduated college but she didn't yet have her MBA. But my father getting his PhD and becoming a professor meant we certainly weren't rich, but that didn't make us working class.

And please tell me if they do it differently in PA.

In California if you go to a UC or a Cal State they say that's going to a state school. Me going to USC, no one would say I went to a state school.

I would assume it the same in PA, if you go to Penn State or Kutztown (where my friend went who pitched for the Giants) people would say you are going to a state school. But they wouldn't say that if someone went to Carnegie Mellon.
