Moral relativism

For the federal minimum wage, about 1% of the workforce makes that and most of those who do are entering the workforce and are under 25 years old.

You're 30 years behind times! In urban America lots of people are trying to live on Minimum wage or just above Minimum wage!

People pass laws for all kinds of reasons...some of them quite asinine. Each law, however, has a story behind it.

Example: It is illegal to own a whale in Kansas City.
This happened because a guy left a dead whale in an aquarium in Kansas City and skipped town. So the city had to pay for disposal of the creature.

It is illegal to wear roller skates in a public restroom in a town in Oregon. I never did learn the story behind that one!

As to your example of owning slaves as 'moral', you are quite correct. If your morals (your context and use case here) makes it okay to own slaves, then to you, it is okay to own slaves...even regardless of the law.

Hugo made the mistake of saying your morals are yours, but then tried to impose his morals on you as 'absolute morals'. This is the 'context and use' trap you so adequately demonstrated.
There is no reason to pass a law that you can't own a whale because someone left a dead whale in an aquarium. Leaving a dead whale in an aquarium is not a moral issue

There is no such thing as morality in itself. We only talk about better and worse. Absolutists believe in transcendent reality, which I deny.
If course there is morality. It's not about better or worse it's about just and I just. So again it would be entirely proper to own a slave tomorrow if slavery was legalized?

You realize I do not share your sense of morality.

Rather depends on who you ask.

To Lincoln, it wasn't.
To the slave owner, it was.
To the slave trader, it was.
To several States, it was.
To other States, it wasn't.

The War of Secession was fought over this very question.
And none of them would have wanted to be a slave. This is akin to the trans bullshit. You don't become a woman because you feel like one and slavery doesn't become moral because some people think it's ok.
