Her husband came to the United States to be a Pilot, and he did... a helicopter pilot. He flies emergency patients from the accident scene to the hospital. He is very good at it.
When he came to the United States he immediately started the process of becoming a citizen. Now, he has two children with his American wife (my niece) and has lived here for 15 years. last year he became a citizen. He was a Trump supporter when I met him seven years ago. He had come to the United States to make a life, on his merit and to build something for himself and his family. He was impressed with the salary he made and enjoyed his job. One week on, one week off, but he had to live at the job site during the week on, and always be ready to take off with 5 minutes notice (weather report, safety check, mechanical check, flight path filed).
They are leaving, going to live in Denmark. He told me, he came to the United States a single man, to make a life, now that he has children he says his view has changed. He got a job in Denmark as a safety officer at an emergency helicopter transportation center. Thirty-Five hours a week, full benefits for his children and American wife. HE says he wants to live in Denmark because if he stays late at work in Denmark, they ask him what is wrong? Is there trouble at home? Do you not want to be with your children? Nobody pushes him to work late, in fact doing so would be illegal.
I am very happy there is a place like Denmark for this family and his life. Healthcare, Education, all part of the deal. He protects the pilots and ensures safety procedures and maintains a healthy family who will be educated, cared for, and have opportunities to prosper using whatever skill and intellect they bring to the table. I am envious.
For him as a single man, The USA was a dream, he could pursue his passion and make good money, but when now that his oldest is 5 years old he wants to be there for her, he wants a culture that will support him and his family as they prosper in life.
