Refineries are rather maxed out right now making gasoline 'winter mix'. Diesel production tends to take a back seat during the changeover.
The loss of refineries in California makes the problem especially acute.

You can expect such spikes during the change from 'winter mix' to 'summer mix' each spring and autumn. This nonsense was created by Democrats.

Quite right. Things should ease a bit now that Venezuela can actually develop it's oil fields. Unfortunately, a refinery can only process so much oil, and the loss of California refineries is causing high prices in the western half of the U.S.

Agreed. California's energy policies suck. There was also an issue at an Illinois refinery that caused gas and diesel prices around my neck of the woods to increase.

I see it as the economy is doing okay, not great, but not terrible. I don't want our leaders to have the world's admiration. I want them to do what's best for the US and make damn sure that every other nation knows it. Our leaders are not there to make sure Europe is doing good.

Fascism is government manipulation of markets. It is a form of socialism. It is based on theft of wealth. It creates poor. It needs 'management' (tyranny), since people don't like their wealth stolen.

Capitalism is the voluntary creation of products and services for voluntary sale at the agreed upon price. It is the only system that create wealth. It provides an opportunity for the poor to become rich. It needs no management. It is self sustaining.

Probably a temporary technical one. These are complex facilities. I tell ya though, it really sucks to live with the shortages in the western half of the US.

I really enjoyed paying for cheap gasoline while I was in Wisconsin! Went to the Appleton area this year, about a couple of weeks after the tornado they had there. Whadda mess.
