Wait, you were in Gainesville during the Ole Miss - Florida game and it was political messages that caught your attention?
And Gainesville is a politically blue college town. What exactly did you expect to see there?
I saw a hat that said Filson. It was tan. It looked nice.

I was in Gainesville for the game, I noticed lots of things, one was the hats the parents were wearing.
The same town where years ago I noticed the MAGA hats everywhere.
I keep hearing that, don’t yet believe it.

I've never been to Gainesville but I suspect there was one heck of a party going on after their victory.
Your OP made no reference to any comparisons. I mean, it's a blue City. Not exactly where you would expect a large amount of Republican paraphernalia.
If you're comparing it to a previous visit, the timing would likely be relevant. Would it be before an election where Trump was on the ballot?
I mean even in SF, many people don't leave political signs out year round. So if you came a month before an election and then came back in March, it's going to look different in that regard.

There are lots of 'influencer' videos out there, many of whom are or were Trump supporters in Trump country who are now showing videos contrasting how from last year to today how so many Trump support signs, have just disappeared recently. Signs that were up year around for years on end, are mostly all quietly just disappearing.
Does that mean they will vote dem? No. Some might. but does it mean they might stay home and not vote. Likely for a good percent of them.

You are mistaken, among the students and the residents, I would not expect much Trump support, but in years past there would have been a huge parade of MAGA hats marching around among the parents.
On a game day there are more non-student non-towns people in Gainesville than students and townspeople. Maybe its a southern phenononum, but that's the way most all Southern school works.
I saw another hat this morning. It just had a Harp Lager logo. Great shade of green. The man wearing it smiled, and so did his dog. His wife was looking in shop windows. It wasn't clear what she was looking at, but perhaps they were going to go in and buy something. I gave him a thumbs up.
