Reality check on electric cars

My whole family drives EVs and hybrids.
So called "hybrids" are essentially overweight ICE vehicles.
We will fight to not be forced to drive pollution mobiles.
Define "pollution".
The electricity that you charge your EV with largely comes from natural gas, coal, and nuclear sources... all of which I'm guessing you'd label as "pollution".
You also can't make any windmills or solar panels without "pollution" (as you call it).

You're not avoiding what you call "pollution", dude... You're just not watching said "pollution" (as you call it) come out of a vehicle's exhaust system so you pretend that you are "holy" because your EV doesn't have an exhaust system.

...
my friends loves his hybrid as he is on the road most of the day. About 80% of his business is local and so he never has to use gas and is fully electric. 20% of business is in his home town area where he grew up about 3 hours away and he typically drives in one day each week and spends the entire day on the road and using gasoline to fuel, for much of it.

He gets the best of both world and says he saves boat loads of money, compared to what he was spending on gas prior to getting the hybrid.

As battery tech and life gets longer and longer that gasoline cost for him will only continue to shrink and he says he will go full EV when he can do his entire 'away' day with one charge.

So called "hybrids" actually use the ICE quite a bit more than you might think. Whenever I see them idling and driving inside the big city, I almost always see exhaust coming out of their tailpipes. Ergo, why I call them "overweight ICE vehicles"

Yup, long trips like that require an ICE if you want to complete them without waiting forever to refuel.

I believe you when you say that's what he says.

Chemistry hasn't changed, dude.

All my friend cares about is that his gasoline costs have gone substantial down and as his small business requires him to be constantly driving he has said that cost is one of his bigger costs in his entire business.

That was before he got the hybrid and said almost all of his in town driving now, which is 80% of his business is now done with almost no gasoline cost and that is pure profit in his pocket.

Actually not that long anymore in big cities where he is where he can charge up in 3-5 minutes, if he even needs to charge before he gets home and plugs in.

I believe you when you say that's what he says.

Chemistry hasn't changed, dude.
The technology around batteries has vastly changed and improved.

AI Overview

These are just some of the major battery technology improvements since Tesla put EV's back on the map and as a major focus of R&D spending.

Electric vehicle (EV) battery technology has shifted from standard liquid lithium-ion cells toward higher energy densities, faster charging speeds, and safer solid-state architectures. [1, 2]

📊 Major EV Battery Advancements

Technology / InnovationCore BenefitCurrent Status
### 🔋 Solid-State BatteriesDouble the energy density and faster charging without fire risks.Entering early mass production and verification phases. Read more via CarBuzz and Forbes.
### 📈 Silicon AnodesReplaces traditional graphite for significantly higher capacity.Integrated into high-end cells to extend driving range past 500–700 miles.
### 📉 Sodium-Ion ChemistryLowers cost and improves sub-zero winter performance.Adopted by major manufacturers for entry-level city EVs.
### 📌 Dry Electrode ManufacturingCuts factory footprint, toxic solvents, and production costs.Scaled up by pioneers like Tesla for large cylindrical cells.

Actually, solar and wind produce negative environmental effects and pollution in operation, so they are hardly "clean energy."

But the lie persists.....the people in charge are determined to continue to move toward intermittent energy....it is part of the program to move the masses into slavery.

Removing good food from our diet is another prong of the program.

No, the LEFT is in favor of that. The Left fucks everything they touch up.

The global war on energy and food is a UniParty Empire project.....you fuckers still enthralled with the D/R charade spun by our abusers really do need to wise up.
You will never get @T. A. Gardner to admit anything but 'everything wrong on the planet is the fault of the left while the right do nothing but good and should never get blame'.

he is the most purely partisan blinded person on this forum.

I don't see the Right trying to shove EV's down our throats with no alternatives.
I don't see the Right shoving solar and wind down our throats with no alternatives.
I don't see the Right opposed to nuclear power.
I don't see the Right opposed to any use of oil and wanting all drilling and refining stopped.
I don't see the Right going BANANAs (Build Absolutely Nothing Anywhere Near Anyone)
I don't see the Right telling us we're all going to die, and the world will end if we don't get rid of (fill in the blank with some product or chemical).

You could have stopped at "i don't see the right..."

As that is what defines you. A refusal to see anything negative in the right and everything bad as being from the left.

I believe gov't have both stripes have failed the people badly for decades on end. I can point you at serious Obama failings or Bush Sr, etc.

But you see PERFECT GOVERNMENT on the right, and one where you can see no problems ever, and anytime someone raises one you race in to defend the right and shift all blame to the left.

You are nothing, if not predictable, as this post by you demonstrated perfectly.

Well, if the Right had a big (and insane) environmental movement I'd complain about it, but it doesn't. That's solely the Left's purview. And they are insane. They believe provable nonsense, regularly lie about stuff, and protest everything. It's one area of politics that, yes, I am highly biased against.

Yes big government on the right is 'perfect' and has 'no flaws'. Not one.

We all know your stance you do not need to spell it out.

Never said that. Government on the Right is largely hands off and that has its issues too. But those issues aren't massive meddling in every aspect of everyone's life.

Right.

So what you are clearing up is that big Right leaning governments just do not do enough. They need to be more involved and do more.

Got it. And ya, we know that is how you think as that is just an extension of your view 'right governments are perfect except they need to do more of that perfect stuff... they fall short in just not doing enough but when they do something we need more.'

We know Terry,... we know.
