Do the humanities need a rebrand?

Jones: How do you counter the narrative that going to college isn’t worth the investment, or that it’s a financial risk?

Acampora: I’d encourage people to look at the data, which strongly show college-educated workers fare better than those without a degree, almost universally across fields of study. They make more money, have better health outcomes, and live longer. From a holistic lifespan perspective, college is worth it.

College degrees are not for everyone. Many are better suited for technical education whether it be in industry or medicine. They will have less student indebtedness and good earning power.
Yet, college graduates earn more over a lifetime than non-college graduates.

Art history, world religion history that they get wrong in the textbook, and you know better.
Greek Mythology and Philosophy. I mean, it's needed for higher education, but I still think 80% of it sucks donkey nuts.

No one is forced to take art history.

The world rolls on.

Those who can will matriculate at the university of their choice. They will review the syllabus at their university, struggle to absorb all that is thrown at them and most will get their degree…or even an advanced degree.

They will move into the workforce and most will be successful.

This is America, higher learning is available to most who truly want a better life.

USA, USA, USA.

It’s a waste of time and money to go to college for that. Anything you want to learn in humanities you can get from a library for free.
It's a required class. Meh. The one textbook I have found, and it was my least favorite.
The others gotta be around somewhere. I kept all my books. When I find 'em, gonna put 'em all in the bookshelf in chronological order.
