The newest slur.

Jarod, there are lots of slurs used to describe people (hell, I learned a new one yesterday that guno called Marco Rubio). There's only one n word. And you choose to say the word, twice!! Doesn't matter that you put quotes around it.

It's a really poor analogy, and that's offering grace.
What is the point of calling them trannies?

Do you know who uses the n word the most today? Young people, specially Mexicans and some Asians.

There are plenty that don’t accept it but young people are growing up in a very different time.

So are those folks all Trumppers? Interesting dynamic if young POC are now voting Republican.
Did I say Trumppers use that word today? Nope!

What's the difference between trans, tranny, or transvestite? They all mean the same thing, and none qualify as a slur in and of themselves. The whole premise of comparing it to the n-word is silly. It's more a term used by pornographic industries than a derogatory term.

1) I did not say it, I wrote it. You think there is something wrong to typing out the word in a discussion about it being derogatory? I did not call anyone that word. I discussed the word are you so easily offended?

I’m offended when people use those words in reference to a person or a group of people whren it’s used to demean them and to create an “out” group who they can attack for political power. It’s used to create an us viruses them power dynamic. I am offended when people use such tactics in an attempt to oppress someone for a characteristic rather than their actions or the ideas they express.

Holy sh*t. You are writing out the n word and then trying to say saying tranny is anywhere comparable?

I used to roll my eyes when people said we need to teach more black history than we do, but maybe I was very wrong. Wow.
Adults can discuss words and their meanings without having to tip toe around them. Don’t call people names, but it’s silly to now write the word when discussing it. That’s absolutely ridiculous. “The N-word”, really? Are you that PC?

Tranny is derogatory, Trans or transvestite is not. One is used as an insult, the other is a description of a person relating to gender and clothing choice.

Nigger is derogatory, Black or African American or dark skinned is a value neutral
Description.

Watch Lee Atwater’s discussion on this topic if it’s still on you tube. (George HW Bush campaign advisor. )

He talks about the campaign simply used the words “School Bussing”, when they were in the south to appeal to the racists.

I can’t quote him from memory but he says something like, because we can’t go out there and say “Nigger, nigger nigger, we created a euphemism.”

It used to be on you tube if they didn’t take it down.

UPDATE: I found it for you….

I'm nobody but my history is what it is. I'm from Oakland. You familiar with term invited to the cookout? I've had it said to me.

I would not use the n*word, and I certainly wouldn't write it out. It's a respect thing. Saying people shouldn't use it but then writing it out and stating 'that's not saying the word'? To each his own, that's not how I roll.

You don't do exactly what you're complaining about in this post? Hell, look at your OP man.

LOL, you really really want to say this word don't you? You think people don't know the history of the word?

You accuse others of wanting to use it while freely using it yourself (under the guise of stating what you think others want to say). I mean dude...

I think that is silly, it’s important we discuss it from a historical perspective so we don’t keep repeating in.

I don’t believe in banning words.

In the OP I called out Trumppers, not for how they dress or what race they are born into, or their sexuality, I called them out because of an ideology I believe most of them secretly believe.

If you will call someone a Tranny because that person is different, what else will you call people.

I'm not going to say certain words like the n-word. It's a hate-driven, depraved word that dehumanizes. It has no meaning outside of that. I don't even like that blacks tried to adopt it and give it new meaning. It's a word that needs to die. Remembered only as a historical footnote.

I said nothing about banning. Next time you come to Berkeley, reach out to me and I'll take you to Oakland.

Come use the n*word there on the basis of you don't believe in banning words. We'll see how well that works out.

Ok. So I can call you and every other liberal out on things I think you secretly hold.

I mean, you're here using the n*word so I can say you and liberals all want to use it, you just do and most others are afraid to. That's how this works right?

You are being silly, it’s not the letters that are derogatory, it’s not the sound, it is the intent of the word, the word “nigger” is only offensive when you assign it to a group of people.

I know nobody so sensitive that they are offended by the word being used academically.

I would still hold my opinion regardless of how it worked out for me.

Am I understanding you correctly that you feel you need to use the word so we don't forget what it means, and therefore others won't use it?

Yes, you can. This is America and more specifically this is a POLITICAL DISCUSSION BOARD.
