Judge Orders Trump Administration to Answer for Tree Removals at D.C. Golf Course

A federal judge on Monday excoriated the Trump administration for ripping up hundreds of mature trees at a Washington golf course over the holiday weekend, even though she had directed officials to disclose any major changes before work was started.

In an explosive, four-hour emergency hearing, Judge Ana C. Reyes of the Federal District Court in Washington ordered a one-day halt to any more tree removal at East Potomac Golf Links, and said she would continue proceedings on Tuesday.

Now you got him huh? Put him in jail, impeach him, execute him right?

No i hate people like you who claim to love America but do everything they can to destroy it. And its not that you hate America that bothers me its that you pretend you dont as if we cant see how you cockraoches behave.
you are boring

Yes, it is judicial activism. The NPS had a plan in place to do this working on it for six years plus. They were finally ready to move forward when, last minute, a plaintiff files to stop them on bullshit grounds and shops a Trump hating judge to side with them.

The court has no authority to be the manager of this project--NONE. This asshole of a judge has overstepped her authority. She is not part of the administration and has no legal standing to decide how the project will be carried out other than to rule on the basis of factual law. That is not what she's doing. She is micromanaging the project with that 10 tree bullshit.

Good! The NPS has a solid plan and it should be carried out expeditiously and cost effectively. Fuck that asshole judge.

Yes she did. The plaintiffs were a last-minute attempt to stop the project. This judge obviously knew she couldn't just outright stop it so she did the next best thing: Throw obstacles in the path of progress. Why 10 trees and not 20? Why limit the number cut down but allow some to be cut down? This is nothing but a delay tactic.

Again, this judge grossly overstepped her authority and is an asshole that should be ignored.
^ Everything you say above is WRONG.

Judges provide checks and balance. That is NOT 'judicial activism'.

It is a LIE to say this was "judge shopped" as the judge was randomly assigned from the pool by computer.

Judges MUST take cases when lawsuits are assigned and it is another LIE by to pretend that simply taking the case, they must, is activism.

Second, the 10-tree limit wasn't an 'obstacle to progress'—it was a legal placeholder the Trump admin AGREED TO follow.

Federal judges have absolute authority under the Administrative Procedure Act to halt executive actions if an agency is suspected of breaking the law.

The judge didn't try to manage the project; she tried to manage a legal case. The only reason she halted the entire operation is because the government intentionally bypassed her order over a holiday weekend. You can't break the rules of a court proceeding and then cry 'activism' when the judge holds you accountable."

Because it's federal public land that doesn't belong to Trump and isn't his to do with as he pleases
So? That doesn't require a judge to be making decisions on its use.
Because it's federal land it undoubtedly falls under some kind of administrative law procedural requirements Trump was supposed to follow.

But Trump is internationally known for ignoring due process, administrative procedure, and constitutional law.

What "constitutional law" has been violated?

"Undoubtedly"? "Some kind of...", "suppose to.."? Iron clad argument there buddy.

So do you believe federal lands are completely unregulated and not subject to any kind of procedural law when changes are proposed for the property?

In further news, Judge Ima C. Ommie, a Biden appointee has issued a decree ordering the President to answer for the number of toilet paper squares he uses to wipe his butt.

What does that have to do with this thread? Oh thats right you TDS sufferers cant contain yourselves. The insanity just flows out of you
So you believe inciting riots to prevent a duly elected president from taking office is constitutional.

Trump's illegal power-grab on tariff authority was ruled unconstitutional by his own Supreme Court.

Need more? There's plenty more.

I said Trump is internationally known for for ignoring due process, administrative procedure, and constitutional law.

This golf course is just an example of him ignoring administrative procedure -- and it's unsurprising to me because Trump is known to act illegally on a regular basis with his excersise of presidential authority.

In this case, you are full of shit. This particular judge hates Trump. She has no business sticking her nose into this. The NPS was trying to restore that particular course to its long historical look as a "open links style" course. They were also removing non-native and invasive species from the course. This wasn't some rash Trump decision, but rather the NPS doing its job.

Yes, the NPS had a filed plan calling for the removal of these trees, and based on the historical nature of the course, their plan fit with that.

Another day, another shitty Autopen appointed judge making shit up as she goes.
Wow. Once again. It seems you failed to actually read what you linked to. It is a document filed in an ONGOING lawsuit. In July the court said that the court and the plaintiffs in the lawsuit were to be notified prior to any work being done. This document is the 'notification' of work to be done. it was completed on 10/9 at 4:30 in the afternoon. It was filed with the court AFTER that. The work then started on the morning of 10/10. What day of the week was 10/9? When is the normal end of business day on a Friday?

Here is the entire court process for this that started in Feb of 2026.

Do you think someone gives you adequate notice if they send you an email to your work email after 6 on Friday telling you they will be doing something at 7AM on Saturday? When someone is told to give a court adequate notice, that means it has to give the court time to respond. After business hours on a holiday weekend when the work is not an emergency is not adequate notice. The judge is on vacation in Europe and had to do a zoom court hearing and will do another today. (Moved to 10/19 as the work has been ordered stopped.)

It is you and the NPS that is full of shit on this one. Thinking that adequate notice is less than 12 hours late on a Friday night.

Let me ask you as a contractor, do you not plan or even think about doing a job worth several thousand dollars until 24 hours before you are going to start doing it?
