QUICK QUESTION I HAVE ABOUT THE US

Brah, one of us encountered an old ass coal black woman in GA, dippin' fine snuff out a custom tin, and got to talking about the Civil War,
and I never seen so many "Damn Yankees" and "Damn Sherman"s, and "Carpetbaggers" and old woman spittin' snuff, and it was totally against everything I was taught in school. I'm inclined to take her word. That woman meant what she was sayin', sittin' outside that General store in a rocking chair. Idk if they even still make the kind of snuff she was using, it was like powder. :oops:

I'm asking this question because I've just watched an awesome documentary (by Martin Scorcese) about "The Band" (i.e. the US, R&B/Rock group that included Levom Helm and Robbie Robertson). The documentary was called, "The Last Walz," and it featured "The Band" performing their hits live, supported by other big names (like Van Morrison, Neil Diamond and Ringo Star) who came to help them their final farewell, concert home. This took place in either 1976 or 1978 - I can't remember. the exact year.


In between songs, the producer filmed members of the Band off stage, chatting casually about some of the memories they had from their 16 years on the road. In one of the rooms where these off-stage chats took place, there was a large Confederate Flag pinned up on the wall with "DIXIE" printed across the bottom.


I thought to myself how interesting it was that this documentary was not afraid to show that the boys from "The Band" still proudly identify with the Confederacy/ the culture of the old South. This was in 1976, remember, and many 1000s of Americans would have watched this documentary when it was released, as "The Band" had a large popular following in America at the time.



Another thing that made me smile was when members of the Band would casually recall how the best thing about being on the road was the women. They were talking about all of the many female fans they'd "nailed" (Southern Belles ??) without having to raise a little finger. I think that If any male celebrity in America were to make the same kind of remarks today, in 2026, he'd be rapidly crucified by the MSM/ social media for being a MALE CHAUVINIST and a disgusting, SEXIST PIG?
The blue-haired, liberal women, for example, would all have kittens (!!).


Anyway, getting back to the question I began with; it seems to me that the Confederate Flag now regarded as a far-Right, racist, white supremacist, hate symbol in America(?) And if you lived anywhere in mainstream America (in "the North" or "the South"), flying a big Confederate Flag on your property would be viewed as an: offensive; provocative and anti-social act - that could get you in serious trouble.


Is that correct, or have I misunderstood the issue?

Lccke was a pretty devout Prostestant, and the political philosophy/ theory that he wrote during the Enlightenment is still regarded as the work of a an extraordinary, towering genius. So, id we say that Shakes was/is the greatest master of the English language (which is true), then when it comes to the greatest political theory, John Locke, is the "William Shakespeare" of this field.

There was no insurrection or an attempt at one on Jan 6, 2021. The coup occurred on Jan 20, 2021. That coup was later put down by the people of the United States. The economic depression during that time finally ended a year later.
