I would think they'd be happy about higher gas prices, dont you? Higher gas prices means people buy less. If they buy less they drive less. If they drive less thats less carbon emissions. Less carbon emissions less climate change. Less climate change and maybe the miserable fucks would finally stop bitching.

Oh wait but they hate trump more than they hate climate change so thats why they're whining about gas prices. What they care about seems to change with the circumstances. That's the whole theory behind a carbon tax, and we pay a lot of carbon taxes in Canada, for no other reason than to make gas less affordable.

We also shut down coal-fired plants in Canada, which caused an intense spike in energy prices in Ontario for a while.



One thing that's important to note about the price of energy prices is that high energy prices disproportionately harm poor people.

It makes no difference to Biden and Carney if gas goes up to $60/gallon - they can still afford it easily, even in private jets that consume as much gas on a 1-way trip from LA to NY as the average person uses in 30 months (1,500 gallons per flight vs 50 gal/month).

But when lower-income people are operating with a budget that has maybe $300/month after taxes, food, groceries, insurance, etc, and their gas costs an extra $50/month, that takes up 1/6th of their disposable income.

Please provide evidence to support this claim of $6/gallon gas under Obama. According to EIA the national average cost for gas under Obama never exceeded $4.
