Just another school shooting America

I simply pointed out the law to show you that you were not correct about minors in possession of a long arm. nothing more, nothing less.
Actually, possession also means they should OWN the weapon along with legally being able to transport it to a shooting range or hunting (also in accordance with state law). So my previous challenge stands.

That's nice. So produce the evidence that the parent(s) gave consent to carry that weapon out of the house on his own. We'll wait.
As an outside observer, I'm curious what exactly you're waiting for.

He correctly explained what Oregon law permits. He never claimed the shooter's parents actually gave consent.

You're demanding evidence for a claim nobody made, while completely ignoring the legal distinction he was correcting. You should say thanks and move on as this is another failure of reading comprehension you are famous for

So neither should be carrying.
Correct. If the teacher did want to carry, she (most teachers are she by far) should take sufficient training and regularly practice ensuring she knows how to use that weapon correctly and effectively.

Now, that said, there used to be gun handling classes taught in high schools with the students supervised so they would learn safe use and practices. That's disappeared entirely today.

Even though the sport of hunting isn't as popular as in years past, a class like that is still a good idea. Guns probably outnumber cell phones in America. KIds are going to encounter them; they might as well learn about them.

That's my view. If we take the mystery out of firearms and make them something you can have fun with safely, it makes them a lot less attractive to kids who often want something edgy and rule breaking.

And those who feel powerless to feel powerful. *sigh* I do not like guns at all but taught my daughters to shoot. I also talked to them frankly about sex, pleasure, pregnancy, responsibility, consequences of sex, STDs, and so on, on the same theory you used above.

I get a kick out of your trying to be intellectual.

He made an assertion, I asked for proof. If neither of you can provide it, that means the shooter was breaking yet another law.

Now, do your usual response in pivoting, dodging and repetition.

Yes, a "non-intellectual" is constantly finding flaws in your arguments and ridiculing your reasoning.

Now consider what it says about you when even a "non-intellectual" can routinely expose the holes in your logic.

Think about that.

He explained what Oregon law permits. He never asserted that parental consent was actually given.

You're still demanding proof of a claim nobody made.

You lose again.

Oh, no! A murderer might have violated another statute!

Maybe he drove there on a school permit, too. Better check whether he used his turn signal.

I'm sure those additional charges will make all the difference.

But congratulations on turning a discussion about murder into an investigation of minor statutory violations. You've really cracked the case.

🙄 once again, you do EXACTLY as predicted. That you think your pivot is clever is so much more to pity you for.

As the chronology of the posts shows, your compadre put forth information in an attempt to say a minor had a legal right to carry that weapon in that state. I just asked for proof that the shooter met ALL of that criteria for that. Nothing more.

He dummied up. You're the dummy trying to fabricate a "got'cha" moment based on supposition and conjecture. But you can't fsctually answer my question, which invalidates your buddy's point.

But as always, the grinning idiot you see in the mirror is cheering you on to double down. Carry on. ☺️

Yes, he correctly pointed out that you were applying a law governing the purchase of a firearm to the entirely different question of legally possessing or carrying one.

He corrected your mistake. Now you're desperately trying to turn your demand for additional proof into a victory, as though it somehow erases your original error.

The irony of you accusing anyone else of pivoting is apparently lost on you.

as a reminder, your incorrect statement was "That 16 year old was NOT of legal age (18) in Oregon to have that gun. "

Give up correcting the twit. He thinks he's never wrong on subjects he knows nothing about.

Let me just put a stop to your revisionist, repetitive BS:

What Is the Minimum Age to Buy or Use a Gun in Oregon?

In Oregon, the minimum age to purchase a gun varies by type: 21 years old for handguns and 18 years old for rifles and shotguns. In Oregon, it’s illegal to sell a gun to a minor. Many wonder about the legal age for using a firearm in Oregon, which is 18 years old. However, there are exceptions that allow minors to use firearms under specific circumstances, including:
  • With parental consent, minors may use non-handgun firearms.
  • Minors can temporarily possess firearms for hunting, target practice, or other lawful purposes.
  • Handguns may be possessed and used by minors if they are provided by a parent.

And all the objective reader has to do is look at posts #82 and #100 to see the folly of Zymurgy's repetitive, insipid stubbornness in his quest to "own the libs". Pathetic.

And you were brought up in a home with guns hanging on the walls, yea real normal, what kind of nut does that

Yep. It's normal in rural areas to have guns hanging on our
walls., bigoted racist. My father was an honorable man.
You wouldn't understand because you are dishonorable.
I was taught at an early age to respect firearms,
that's why I received my first Hi-Power rifle at age 12.
