Everyone understands that Socialism is not Communism, right?

Completely wrong. Communism establishes TOTAL GOVERNMENT CONTROL., AS DOES SOCIALIsM AS DESCRIBED BY ITS FOUNDER, rOUSSEAU, IN "tHE SOCIAL CONTRACT". (Chapter 7, "The Lawgiver". )
FALSE.

Communism's definition: In classical Marxist theory, communism is defined as a classless, moneyless, and stateless society—meaning the centralized state ("total government control") will wither away rather than reach a permanent end state of total government control.[1, 2]

Rousseau’s view of Socialism: Rousseau's core premise in The Social Contract is that legitimate political authority rests on the General Will of the citizens, where individuals obey laws they give to themselves. Rousseau argued that his system prevents citizens from being dependent on the arbitrary will of any individual master. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8]

Read Chapter 7, "The Lawgiver".

Stop embarrassing yourself; it is blatantly obvious that you have read NEITHER "The Social Contract", nor "The Communist Manifesto", like nearly all leftists.

Firstly Chapter 7 in the Social COntract is NOT "The Law Giver". It is "The Sovereign" so get your shit correct.

Second Rousseau is one philosopher of many who have opinions on what is or is not needed for Communism or Socialism, etc.

So even if we granted (i do not) that you are representing Rousseau properly (you are not) that DOES NOT MEAN he gets to define Socialism or Communism for everyone else.

I can cite countless sources that define the end State of Communism as Stateless, government less entity which is the opposite of what you are trying to push.

Rouseau is writing about democray. The social contact is between the individual and the political state. The founders of our nation used this idea writing the Constitution.
