“WASHINGTON – President Donald Trump’s administration filed a lawsuit to block Alaska’s certification of the U.S. Senate race if Republicans lose, based on confusion about the incumbent’s name.”

“Sen. Dan S. Sullivan, R-Alaska, is defending his seat against Democratic former state Rep. Mary Peltola. But Sullivan has trailed the challenger with another candidate in the race, retired schoolteacher Daniel J.”

“The lawsuit asks the court to prevent the state of Alaska from certifying election results “pending an investigation to determine whether votes cast for Daniel J. Sullivan were meant to be cast for Senator Sullivan.”

So I guess that means two people with the same name can not run for the same office. Must be Trumpcouldn’t come up with a list of 20,000 supposed illegals registered to vote in Alaska

Get ready, this is only the beginning, with ten years for MaraLago to plan, this election is going to make the Big Lie and January 6th look like the JV game. Trump doesn’t give a rat’s ass about the Constitution, America, or Americans, and nothing is beyond him

shit stains circling those wagons

election integrity matters. This is the exact bullshit that prevents people from having faith in the process

I do believe that is the purpose

Since his arrival Trump, without any proof, has done whatever he could to discredit the entire election system, cast doubt on its integrity and reliability, this is just another example

Get ready, as I said, with a decade to plan, nothing is beyond Trump even if it tears down the country

You're so blinded by your hatred of Trump that you've managed to ignore the two most important facts in this story.

First, the lawsuit only seeks to delay certification if the incumbent loses AND the votes cast for the other Sullivan could have changed the outcome. That's a pretty significant limitation you've conveniently ignored.

Second, Alaska's own Division of Elections investigated the second Sullivan and concluded that his candidacy was not made in good faith, but was intended to confuse or mislead voters. A court later overturned his disqualification, but that doesn't make the original concern imaginary.

This isn't simply two people sharing a name. It's a legitimate concern about deliberate voter deception potentially deciding an election.

You can debate the legal merits of the lawsuit. But dismissing election integrity because you despise Trump, then launching into hysterics about January 6, says considerably more about your partisanship than the lawsuit.

So all the votes for Sullivan II are automatically bogus? How does one even prove that all the votes for Sullivan II were cast mistakenly? And as you even noted the argument was “overturned”

Whole move is unprecedented, added with such as strategic gerrymandering, echoing innuendos on illegals voting, sending Federal personnel to election polls, etc., together show is doing his best to control elections, and if he fails and the Democrats prevail, anything is possible.

January 6th would have never have been imaginable and that was with only three months of planning, imagine what Trump has ready with six years of planning

shit stains circling those wagons
trump's attorney general blanche swore that other than a "doomsday scenario" he would not try to block an election... And then two hours later sued to block this election. The shit stains are not just circling their wagons, they are lying about it within hours of doing it.

So you think 69 years ago, this guys parents knew that in eight years someone would be born with a similar name, and named him that? This does not even pass the laugh test.

The bizarre part about all this is Daniel S Sullivan(your Sullivan) was originally elected partly because he got a bump from being confused with Daniel A Sullivan(a beloved major of Anchorage). Unlike Daniel J Sullivan, your Sullivan had signs claiming he was "from Anchorage" thereby intentionally confusing voters.

And then Daniel S went on to drive Daniel A out of politics to be the only Daniel Sullivan around.

You guys really are circling the wagons, aren't you?

Nobody claimed every vote for Sullivan II was bogus. The lawsuit establishes a threshold for investigating possible voter confusion, not automatically invalidating votes. If the incumbent wins, or the other Sullivan's votes couldn't possibly change the outcome, the requested intervention doesn't apply.

And let's quit pretending this is just an innocent coincidence involving two guys with the same name.

The second Sullivan switched to the Republican Party just before filing, wanted to appear on the ballot as "Dan Sullivan," and even emailed election officials requesting to be listed as Dan S. Sullivan — using the incumbent's middle initial instead of his own! He corrected that request hours later.

Alaska's own Division of Elections investigated and concluded his candidacy was intended to mislead voters. The courts subsequently ruled he couldn't be disqualified on those grounds. That's a legal distinction, not proof that the concerns were imaginary.

You can certainly challenge the lawsuit's legal merits. But you've completely abandoned the actual facts in favor of another Trump conspiracy rant.

At what point does your hatred of Trump outweigh your concern for election integrity?

You are right which is why the shit stain magat republicans should not have been doing it...

1. The 2020 Florida State Senate District 37 Race

  • The Setup: Incumbent Democratic State Senator José Javier Rodríguez was running for re-election. Former Republican State Senator Frank Artiles paid an acquaintance named Alex Rodriguez—who had the same last name but no prior involvement in politics—nearly $45,000 to file as an independent candidate. [1, 2]
  • The Tactic: Alex Rodriguez never campaigned, but shadowy political committees mailed advertisements to left-leaning voters promoting him as a progressive choice. [1, 2]
  • Frank Artiles was subsequently arrested and convicted of multiple felony election law violations. [1, 2, 3, 4]

2. The 2024 Washington Gubernatorial Race
  • The Setup: State Attorney General Bob Ferguson, a prominent Democrat, was running for governor. [1]
  • The Tactic: A conservative activist paid the filing fees to place two other men named Bob Ferguson on the ballot to run for the exact same position. [1]

And you are so blinded by your TDS magat cult loyalty that you want the Constitution thrown in the garbage.

This issue HAS ALREADY been looked at thoroughly by the State and even the Republicans there have agreed it is fine with the distinctions made. The State Supreme Court affirmed a lower court ruling that this complies and is fine.

But shit stains gonna shit stain and say THE CONSTITUTION DOES NOT MATTER IF IT GOES AGAINST US.

It is like we think democracy is something worth preserving.

And let's quit pretending this is just an innocent coincidence involving two guys with the same name.
Actually, it is three guys. If it is not a coincidence, then the youngest guy is the cheater(the last to get the name). Your guy is the youngest guy.

I have no idea why there are so many Daniel Sullivans in Anchorage, Alaska.

The second Sullivan switched to the Republican Party just before filing, wanted to appear on the ballot as "Dan Sullivan," and even emailed election officials requesting to be listed as Dan S. Sullivan
Let's look at the official document with the Alaska Government and check your claim. No you are wrong. He lists himself as Daniel J Sullivan jr. That means there was a Daniel Sullivan Sr. that probable predates your Sullivan by half a century.

You might want to read a little further before declaring someone wrong.

Nobody disputed that his actual name is Daniel J. Sullivan Jr. That's precisely the point!

On June 8, when Alaska election officials asked how he wanted his name displayed on the ballot, he responded "Dan S. Sullivan."

That's S, not J. Coincidentally, the exact middle initial of the incumbent senator.

The Alaska Division of Elections specifically cited that incident in its investigation and subsequent determination that he was attempting to confuse voters.

so what say you now you fucking shit stain

So Trump has his DOJ involved in Alaska just incase to many stupid Republicans will confuse the candidates and vote for the wrong guy thereby insuring a Democrat victory?

How does one even prove the voters were confused? It’s not like the second Sullivan nor the question just surfaced

If it were two Democrats with the same name would Trump have sent his DOJ to Alaska?

You're circling the wagons so hard you've completely lost sight of the principle.

Both parties have a long history of trying to keep third-party candidates off the ballot when those candidates threaten their electoral prospects. Democrats have challenged Green Party candidates, and Republicans have challenged Libertarians.

And you know what? You should be willing to call bullshit on those efforts, too.

The issue here isn't whether Trump would do the same thing for a Democrat. It's whether someone deliberately trying to confuse voters is something we should tolerate.

Alaska's own Division of Elections investigated and concluded that this candidate was attempting to mislead voters. That's a legitimate concern regardless of which party benefits.

You don't have to support Trump, his DOJ, or even this particular lawsuit to recognize that.

As an individual, your job is to recognize bullshit when you see it, not circle the wagons whenever that bullshit happens to benefit your political side.

An interesting lawsuit, and an interesting election ballot problem.

Not as listed, no.

Alaska is not California, anchovies.
Get ready, this is only the beginning, with ten years for MaraLago to plan, this election is going to make the Big Lie and January 6th look like the JV game.
What 'big lie'?

You are describing Democrats and yourself again. Inversion fallacy. TDS.

It's a federal election, moron.
January 6th would have never have been imaginable and that was with only three months of planning, imagine what Trump has ready with six years of planning
January 6th took several months of planning by Pelosi. The rioters were Democrats.

It is DEMOCRATS that support rioting, looting, arson, vandalism, organized crime, harboring illegal aliens, assault, and murder.

It has already been infront of the Alaskan Supreme Court, and there is no substantial proof Daniel J. Sullivan Jr’s candidacy is a deliberate attempt to fool anyone, in fact, he is running on an independent line.

Any Alaskan who after all the attention this has gotten over months and still confuses Daniel J. Sullivan Jr running as an Independent with Dan S Sullivan on the Republican line deserves to throw away his vote.

And the whataboutism, Democrats do it, is bullshit, no Democrat has ever employed the DOJ to be ready if one of their candidates loses
