Socialism is an economic system in which everyone, 100% of the population, has to be:
Totally cooperative
Engaged in productive activities to the maximum extent they possibly can be
Completely altruistic
Those three qualities are necessary for any Socialist economic system to work regardless of degree.
It is also impossible, given human nature, to achieve any one of the three. Therefore, Socialism cannot fully work and will never fully be achieved. Where it exists, to whatever extent, it is inefficient and leads to corruption on a scale equal to or exceeding its use in the economy.
