NYTimes this morning has a front page story exposing the second Sullivan as, in fact, a setup intended to confuse voters. This coming days before the election is likely to hurt and you have to wonder at the foolish desperation that prompted it. Correct. And since this was argued vigorously in court by very interested magat lawyers who wanted desperately to block him, I side with them until I see something definitive otherwise.

I am saying that in every ranked voting in Alaska, a candidate has gotten over 50% of the vote in one of the rounds. People do not just stop voting after the first round.

You're confusing rounds of counting with rounds of voting.

People vote once. The election is over. They either ranked additional candidates on their ballot or they didn't.

If their candidate is eliminated and they didn't rank another continuing candidate, their ballot becomes inactive. Their vote doesn't automatically transfer to another Republican.

And when someone gets over 50% in a later round, that's 50% of the remaining active ballots, not necessarily 50% of everyone who originally voted.

Nobody is continuing to vote. They're simply counting the preferences voters already expressed.
