Less than two weeks before the midterm elections, the running mate of Iowa's Republican candidate for governor has been thrust into the spotlight following the revelation that he is being sued by his parents for unpaid rent.

Rep. Derek Wulf, who is the candidate for lieutenant governor, is being sued for $275,000, the Des Moines Register reported. In the suit, which was filed on Oct. 20, Duane and Jackie Wulf allege their son has neglected to pay rent for farmland since 2024. The suit also disputes claims by the candidate that he had outright ownership of some calves and cows, as well as farm equipment.

It's a legal move to protect some assets from a foreclosure on his farm, which is failing miserably.

This family lawsuit is part of a larger pattern of financial distress for Wulf and his company, Shallow Creek Land & Livestock. Since 2023, he has been sued by eight different people and companies over unpaid debts. In addition to the $3.8 million debt claim by WCF Financial Bank—which placed his home and farm into receivership—Wulf is also under investigation by the Black Hawk County Sheriff's Office regarding how he disposed of livestock tied to a bank loan.

Considering he can't ru a farm, IDK why anyone would think he can run a state
