No, it is not the (L) platform. The Libertarian candidates are whackos. One year Missouri ran an (L) candidate for the Senate who was a convicted felon. His convictions were for drug charges. I could have forgiven weed but it wasn't weed, it was hard drugs. That's just one example.

Libertarians, it is truthfully said, are just hardcore Republicans who support sex and drugs. :laugh:

On a prior forum there was a thoughtful, intelligent, civil guy who was a Libertarian. We had a lot of interesting discussions about (L) beliefs and policies. I'll give you an example I gave him.

Scenario under current system: You buy a property on a lake in the country. Your property has a septic system and a well with good water. Someone buys a property on the other side and wants to set up a small hog raising operation. However, local zoning, environmental regulations, and other law prevents this.

Under Libertarian system: You buy the same property. The neighbor buys the land on the other side of the lake and sets up his hog farming operation. The hogs' waste soon pollutes the lake, and then your well. You are forced to spend thousands to install a water purification system. The smell is often so bad you have to stay indoors. Your kids can't swim or fish in the lake anymore. You try to sell your dream property but no buyers want to live near a hog farm. Your only recourse is to spend thousands more taking him to court. You lose because there are no laws against a hog farm in a residential area. There is no EPA nor regulations prohibiting animal waste going into a shared body of water.

The Libertarians claim you can just sue the hog farmer for damages after he pollutes your water supply and hope you have enough money for a good lawyer, and hope that you can win in court.

A much easier solution is to have robust framework of environmental regulations, monitoring, and enforcement to prevent the problem from even happening in the first place.
