Every Briton should stockpile water and food supplies, government advises

We fight, We win, Am Yisrael Chai
Every Briton is being urged to stock up to nine litres of bottled water and three days’ worth of food in new government guidance designed to ensure that households can survive a weather, cyber or other serious emergency.

The Be Ready campaign is aimed at persuading people to stock up with supplies to last 72 hours, amid growing official concern about the impact of the climate crisis, technological dependency and hostile state threats.

Dan Jarvis, the security minister, said that “those who can follow this advice should follow this advice”. It amounted to “simple steps to be ready for everyday emergencies” as part of a wider, community-oriented effort “to improve our resilience as a nation”, he said.

Wes Streeting, the defence secretary, added that Britain also needed to prepare for the threat of “state-sponsored terrorism” by Russia or other hostile powers targeting everyday infrastructure.

“Terms like ‘hybrid warfare’ and ‘grey zone threats’ do not accurately capture or convey to the general public what I prefer to describe as ‘state-sponsored terrorism’,” he said.

“So in the face of those threats, which are not hypothetical but real, and not somewhere else but increasingly here, we have to step up and take seriously our national resilience as well as our national defence.

“It’s really important that we ask households and businesses, are they prepared? Are they ready? Do they know how they would respond in the event of everyday challenges that might manifest themselves?”

What about surviving the government? That's a much longer survival problem.

Climate is not a crisis.
Dan Jarvis, the security minister, said that “those who can follow this advice should follow this advice”. It amounted to “simple steps to be ready for everyday emergencies” as part of a wider, community-oriented effort “to improve our resilience as a nation”, he said.
With a hostile state threat?
Wes Streeting, the defence secretary, added that Britain also needed to prepare for the threat of “state-sponsored terrorism” by Russia or other hostile powers targeting everyday infrastructure.
What about the UK government? They're the biggest threat.

Heh. Be careful what you ask for!

This is a @Guno פַּחדָן thread, so you know it's a nothing-burger.

Oh, look at that, it's fear-mongering over the imaginary "Climate Crisis". Read no-more, read no-more.

your misunderstanding of solar and wind is astounding. You say such stupid things while thinking you are an authority on these topics.
It is YOU that has no understanding of intermittent power generation on a large-scale power system. And, I am something of an authority on these topics.

For example, I was a serious source in getting this proposition in Arizona shot down by an almost 70% NO! vote:

I even got hate mail from the radical Leftist environmental front.

I did the research, did the math, and solar and wind are uncompetitive. With solar, the PV panels could be FREE and it would still be too expensive compared to nuclear or natural gas. That's how bad solar is.

Sorry but nobody will believe any of that when you cannot help but say the most absurd and stupid things when it comes to all technology here.

I just imagine you saying at those meeting that there has been no improvement to any of these technologies (green energy, ev's, drones) since the early 1900's, etc and people just laughing at you as 'the nut' and moving on.

Even as Trump and magats like you try to cut off all subsidies to Renewable Energy while doubling down on fossil fuel subsidies Texas Republicans SEEING MEASURABLE RESULTS are plowing on and leading the way.

Texas grid thrives on renewables as Trump targets clean energy subsidies

How Renewables and Battery Tech saved the Texas grid in 2025!
Battery energy storage systems and massive expansions in renewable and storage capacity helped stabilize the Texas ERCOT grid during subsequent severe winter cold snaps (such as in January 2026), preventing the widespread blackouts seen during the 2021 Great Ice Storm (Winter Storm Uri). [1, 2, 3]

You cannot get around physics or chemistry. You cannot get more energy than the watt density of sunlight at the point of conversion. Conversion will not be 100% efficient and is generally on the order of 30 to 40% efficient with PV systems. You cannot get around the FACT that any solar energy system is intermittent and only works when the sun shines.

Wind only works when the wind blows at a speed that allows production. Too little or too much and wind is out. Wind also consumes energy. It takes energy from the air (wind is a form of energy) and converts it to electricity. This results in a calming of air down wind of wind farm for miles.

Your links are worthless in proving otherwise.

Solar and wind also, are NOT "renewable." They are two means of production of energy. They don't create more or new energy. They consume energy and convert it into a usable form. "Renewable" as a term applied to either is pure propaganda and nonsense.

Battery and energy storage systems are not economically viable on the scale needed to make wind and solar reliable enough for base loading, not now, and not in the foreseeable future.

Subsidizing failure is nothing new and it is always stupid.

Your assumptions are what is worthless.

Not everything has to be perfect in EVERY situation for it to be of value. You push a version of this retarded argument when you say EV's need to be able to do EVERYTHING or they have no value, an argument i have destroyed over and over and shown how stupid you are pointing out ICE vehicles, like compact cars, pick up trucks, convertibles, etc do not DO EVERYTHING and yet have huge utility in the market.

In this case the argument TEXAS IS MAKING WITH DATA FROM THEIR 2025 ice storm is that having the renewable AND the fossil fuel based power BOTH, gives them a layer of redundancy such that if one shuts down, in an emergency, the other is there is back up.

They had no such redundancy during the 2021 Ice storm and the system crashed leading to mass deaths and State wide shut downs. By 2025, they had the Renewables as redundancy with battery storage back up and it SAVED THE SYSTEM from a similar collapse to 2021.

No one cares that you do not care about any of that Terry and that you hand wave them away. Those are real facts. They prove that simply adding 'more of the same' is not always superior to diversify inputs to build redundancy into the grid.

you can yell into the wind all you want that what Texas is doing and SHOWING PROOF that it IS WORKING, will not work, because you, Terry, say so, but what you cannot do is prove the very real world example of Texas as being wrong.

your misunderstanding of solar and wind is astounding. You say such stupid things while thinking you are an authority on these topics.
Inversion fallacy.

Dependence on solar and wind has ALREADY CAUSED a cold start event in Europe, Kewpie.
The blackout covered Spain and parts of France.

Electric trains stranded in the countryside for about a week.
People WALKED to the nearest town.

Solar power is the most expensive method of generating power, watt for watt.
Wind generators are the 2nd most expensive method.
These two sources of energy can only survive with continued government subsidies. They are piddle power.

Solar only works during the day, when demand is low.
Wind generators only work during a narrow range of wind speeds.
Neither produce much power, especially when you consider the real estate these wasteful systems require.

It has become somewhat traditional to encourage people to store up supplies at this time. The coming winter, you know.
Several governments and even some churches encourage this.

It's not a bad idea either. Stock up what you can, just in case some storm comes along and you can't get to the store for a few days.
It's a good idea to help protect yourself from losing a job, having a car you depend on needing repair, etc.

All true. It's very bad, however, for a government to abuse people's trust in such matters to push government tyranny.

It is not uncommon for you to hear a gathering of Christians being told to just do their best and to trust in God's providence.

It would be something else entirely to hear a gathering of Christians being told to just do their best to fight Climate Change and to trust in God's providence to deliver us from Global Warming.

Omniscience fallacy. You don't get to speak for everybody. TA Gardner happens to be right.
I just imagine you saying at those meeting that there has been no improvement to any of these technologies (green energy, ev's, drones) since the early 1900's, etc and people just laughing at you as 'the nut' and moving on.
Solar and wind are very expensive piddle power.
EVs have limited range, weight a lot, suffer from battery fatigue, are wasteful of energy, and a fire hazard.
Even as Trump and magats like you try to cut off all subsidies to Renewable Energy while doubling down on fossil fuel subsidies Texas Republicans SEEING MEASURABLE RESULTS are plowing on and leading the way.
Magats is not a word, Kewpie.
Subsidies to solar and wind SHOULD be cut off. They are piddle power and waste of money.
Natural gas is renewable energy and doesn't require subsidies.
Oil is a renewable energy and doesn't require subsidies.
Fossils aren't used as fuel. There are no subsidies to make them fuel.

An interconnect is not a power generating facility.
The cheapest and most efficient energy available in Texas for energy production is oil and natural gas, both renewable energy.
An interconnect is not a power generating facility.
The TRIC didn't need 'saving'. It never went down in 2025.
Indeed, the TRIC has never suffered a cold start event.
Solar power doesn't work with ice covering the panels.
Wind power doesn't work with ice on the propellor blades.
Batteries are not power generation.

Blackouts in some areas of Texas were caused by the TRIC shedding load.
A combination of scheduled maintenance on some power plants and water freezing in natural gas lines reduced power generating capacity during an extended winter storm.

Texas responded by improving scheduling and protecting gas lines from freezing.
Neither solar nor wind can operate during winter storms.

All true. It's very bad, however, for a government to abuse people's trust in such matters to push government tyranny.
Encouraging people to stock for winter isn't tyranny.
It is not uncommon for you to hear a gathering of Christians being told to just do their best and to trust in God's providence.
God also expects you to take steps to take care of yourself.

Gaia is not worshiped by Christians.

Guano, why the warning? The Brits allow too many Jews into the country?

 Civil unrest after the Democrats lose in America. They will accuse us honest as old Abe Republicans of cheating.
