16,000 people in L.A. now live in cars, vans and RVs. ,Tar Oozes From Ground Into LA

That's the thing. Conservatives like to obsess about the problems of cities in liberal areas. But if you judge by the bottom line --by how much people are willing to spend for the privilege of living in an area-- even the worst of the "liberal cities" are viewed as better than the conservative alternatives (urban or rural). When people jabber on the Internet, they're free to make up any old nonsense. But when people have to put their money where their mouths are, you get a sense for what they really think. And they generally think that living in liberal areas is worth paying a premium.

More made up bullshit and word salad; you're quite full of it.

Generally speaking, the flow of funds in the US is from high-earning areas to low-earning ones, especially to highly subsidized areas (e.g., farming communities and places that suck heavily on the federal teat for their military bases, retiree living expenses, and disaster relief). So, the "free shit" is more of a conservative-area thing.

https://wallethub.com/edu/states-most-least-dependent-on-the-federal-government/2700/

Of the ten states with the highest dependency on that list, nine were Trump states, while the highly urbanized and liberal states, like New York, New Jersey, Connecticut and California, tend to have below-median dependency.

Another stupid claim from the idiot brigade.

Speaking of gated communities, I'm worried that's the future of America -- right-wingers will succeed in having the plight of the poor neglected so badly, and in under-funding basic public services so much, that the only decent living will be in private communities, behind walls, where the traditional functions of government are covered by private contract.

The homeless problem isn't occurring in Republican dominated cities; it is the worst in Liberal Democratically controlled cities. Detroit is the finest example of the endgame with Democrats at the helm.

Read the history, grow some brains.

When faced with complaints earlier this year from city workers about rats infesting L.A. City Hall, DEMOCRAT city officials said little about whether the problem was connected to several homeless camps right outside.

But a newly uncovered report from a pest control company hired by the city has raised fresh questions about whether officials wrongly downplayed that possibility during discussions at DEMOCRAT-controlled City Council meetings.

The pest control contractor, brought in to assess areas outside City Hall and nearby buildings, warned that homeless people create “harborage for rodents,” according to the report obtained through a public records request.

The company said it found “poor sanitary conditions” — including leftover food, human waste and hypodermic needles — and recommended that the city clear away the homeless population living in the Civic Center.

The findings were a topic of internal discussion for staffers at the Department of General Services, the agency that maintains city buildings. The day the one-page report was issued last December, a maintenance official sent an email to the department’s general manager, Tony Royster, describing the filth that had accumulated in pits that surround City Hall, which are covered by metal grates.

“The homeless are using the grated areas above the pits as their bathroom and relieving themselves,” wrote David Costa, building construction and maintenance superintendent. “This is also attracting the rats. Custodial will need to do some hazmat cleaning of the grates and the pits. There are even hypodermic needles being tossed in the pits along with human waste and other garbage.”

Two months after the report was issued, officials in the Personnel Department told council members they believed the increase in rat activity was triggered by the demolition of Parker Center, the former L.A. Police Department headquarters on Los Angeles Street. They delivered the same message to city workers in a letter sent the same month.

DEMOCRAT Council President Herb Wesson declined to comment on the report, saying he "hadn’t seen it".

However, at a council meeting on the rat issue four months ago, he cautioned the public against blaming homeless individuals for the problem.

Wesson said, “I do not want to have people who are unfortunately living on the streets blamed for something that they might not have anything to do with, but they're just an easy target."

The LAPD said one of its employees at the station has contracted the strain of bacteria that causes typhoid fever.

County health officials declared a typhus outbreak last year in downtown L.A. and one Los Angeles city employee, Deputy City Atty. Elizabeth Greenwood, has filed a $5-million legal claim against the city, saying she contracted typhus while working in her office at City Hall.

Greenwood said she believes she contracted the disease from a flea. Typhus can be spread to humans through flea bites or contact with the feces of infected fleas; its symptoms include a rash, fever and fatigue.

You could never trigger me RG. You have neither the education, world experience nor the intellect to do so. As far as "more research" to share, no need. One is usually all it takes to prove you wrong and delusional.

I'm glad most red necks hate LA and California, we don't need any more refugees thank you very much

The tax base is dwindling and you want no competition for welfare dollars. Got it.

I just read about my birthtown of Dayton Ohio. I'd say it's a good bit more conservative, but like many places it has a higher Murder rate then Chicago. Most of these people that are haters, have never been to these places, and they are just propaganda talking points. 3 places they focus more then anyplace, Chicago, L.A. and San Fransisco. You could also add Portland, OR, and Seattle. I love when they pick on Portland, since it has been rated the best in numerous categories among cities. Most of the haters, are rural, and haven't set foot near a big city like those. I quite frankly really enjoyed walking around Chicago. We went from the train Station, and walked through several regions of Chicago, Carrying just a suitcase each.

Since 1970, so 49 years ago, Dayton has had a Democratic Mayor for for 37 of them. A Republican Mayor for 8 and an independent Mayor for 4. And you’re claiming that makes it a conservative City?
