Is the IRS allowed to discuss anyone's tax returns publicly without permission?

What the IRS is allowed to do, and what it actually does, are 2 different things. Ask Lois Lerner...oops, sorry, she took the 5th. Also, a few years back, I got in a nasty spat with the IRS when they put a lien on my military pension and my VA disability(you can't put a lien on federal disability). They backed down when I threatened to lawyer up, call the news outlets, and start writing to politicians. So yeah, I got issues with the IRS. I trust them to do the right thing about as much as you trust Trump to do the right thing, does that help?

You are correct, privacy rules do prevent that and I read that the protection of his returns was heightened after he won or was sworn in. Might have been during the campaign, I don't remember exactly.
