Why shouldn't all kids have to meet the same eligibility requirements. Giving it to kids who don't qualify takes it away from those who really need it.

Since it's the responsibility of the kid's parent(s) to feed him/her, what's the concern with eligibility. Let them feed their own damn kids. They produced them.

Because that is not going to happen. Too many make money from such programs and to keep from admitting they are benefiting they use the kids to shame people who are critical.

Some of the school districts in my area had free lunches during the summer and nobody showed up, but they continued the programs, anyway.

The difference is the responsible parents provided for their kids as they should and the irresponsible parents felt someone else should be forced to do it for them.
 
The children who lose lunches do so because their parents won’t provide lunches for their own children.

If you can’t feed your children, why do you have them and then expect other parents who do, to feed the child of some irresponsible parent?
 
It would be wonderful if the schools just provided meals..decent, nutritious meals that would help the kids get through the day...provided them for everyone...no extra charge....much more important than wasting money on wretched excess testing....
