97/72/43 - Approval numbers of the SOTU speech.

The concept of corp tax rate reduction wasn't "hasty".
It's a big reason corps left profits overseas..Apple (I think? )just repatriated $365 billion in profits
and that gets the 21% tax rate -added to the treasury.

Apple, Microsoft and Nike—hold nearly $2.5 trillion of accumulated profits in offshore accounts to avoid paying US taxes, according to a report by the advocacy group US PIRG (US PIRG is a lib group)

I hear you on trickle down,,the problem is US corps have been very very good in extracting out more production from US workers without giving wage increases..it's been that way since 2008.
So getting wage increases requires EXPANSION which drives up wages because of competition.

So you can see these wage increases/bonuses/and repatriated profits are just what the economy needs

I'll hope you're right. I'm a capitalist and I believe in capitalism - but one of its problems is that it inevitably rewards & encourages greed. Corps will make a public show of how they're "reinvesting" their windfall and trying to pass it onto workers & hiring, but a lot of it will still end up in offshore accounts & w/ management.

LOL...perhaps if you get the rest of the socks to chime in and help. 5 down, three to go.
Still no lies....

I was out last night, but wouldn't have watched anyway. I rarely sat through an entire Obama speech either. There's plenty of discussion, coupled with segments of the speech to be found today. It was everything I expected. trump and Obama are polar opposites. Obama never sold anything he accomplished, often to his detriment.

trump takes credit for everything that benefits him, and blames others for everything that doesn't.

Why bother to watch that happen in real time?

Name something Obama didn't give himself credit for if it was good and something he didn't blame some else (mostly Bush) for. :pke:

I would have thought so, but the stock market hasn’t changed much, in fact we’ve had the biggest slump in a year since the tax bill passed.

WTF are you rambling about now? The S&P 500 is up about 5% since the tax bill passed and was signed into law by Trump.

Why do you consistently LIE GARUD?

Or are ya just that ignorant?

You really don't think this tax cut will affect the gap between rich & poor?

Here is bottom line... if everyone goes up by 10%, then the gap by nature has to increase if talking in terms of dollars. The only way you get it to narrow is if you say the wealthy only get to go up by 9% when everyone else goes up by 10%.

I think from the standpoint of this bill on its own, you are going to see the bulk of the total dollars of benefits go to the low and middle income families. On a per capita basis, the wealthy will get more.

Capitalism does no such thing. Greed is an unfortunately inherited nature in humans. Look at the Marxists, Communists, those at the top were and are very wealthy.

So please, stop being such a self loather.

Can you expound on the bolded a bit more? Clearly, most is going to those in the top brackets to start with.

the question I have is how many democrats and Independents watched the speech. For obvious reasons many could not stomach watching him so the high approval may well be from his deplorable followers.

People who "couldn't stomach" watching their president speak, are pathetic little snowflakes

I'm glad you watched...certainly was a great speech....very inspiring, something for everyone. He certainly is on his way to unifying this country.

I said I listened, not watched. It's a shame your critical thinking skills went to bed early when it came to fact-checking.

Let the dust settle a little and see what the opinions are in a day or two. BTW, as was pointed out every time President Obama gave a SOTU address, actions speak louder than words. Trump can talk unity till the cows (and their shit) come home, but it matters naught if the rest of the time he does everything he can to divide.

BTW, I'm so jealous.... my stalker has left me for you. I see you rate the Toxic First Spite of the Day post now! Pull her string, and she spites. lol

Puh-lease. Obama did everything he could to divide the country, and used the racial emnity he stoked for political gain.
