The Khazar theory does make sense. The Romans used Christianity to unite their people, why wouldn't the Khazars use Judaism for the same purpose? But still, DNA testing has disproven the theory. So while plausible, it's just not true.

At the moment DNA testing is 'proving' a great number of contrary things. I think we should wait and see.
