A mortal blow to Young Earth creationism

Republicans generally howl in protest whenever I paint them as a party of scientific illiteracy, so much one goal of threads like this is to prove just how correct I am.

It is YOU denying science, dude. You make up some BS about dating a void in a rock and call it 'science'.

I was wrong about collagen being in bones, but it still takes hundreds of years for them to decay.

Why is the earth not miles high in bones if it's so old? We'd be having to tunnel through them to live.

Go read about the age of the planet, when life first arose, and then when vertebrates developed. Gods. The stupid.

Yeah, I've read a lot of things, but not stupid shit like that.

If it's what they say it is, and as old, we'd have to tunnel through bones to live. Bones would be stacked everywhere miles high on the earth's surface.

Yes, seriously. Bones do not decay that fast.
Bones decompose at different rates depending on the soil and other conditions. A human skeleton can decompose in 20 years. It’s why we don’t find ancient skeletons, conditions have to be perfect to preserve the bones.

Let's say it takes 1,000 years for bones to decay.
A mile is 5,280 feet. For us to have bones a mile high we would have to see 5.28 feet of dead animals piling up every year. The funny thing is, in my time on this earth I have never seen a single acre covered with enough dead animals to even be one inch high average for that entire acre.

Now let's say it takes 10,000 years for bones to decay. We would need to see at least 6" of dead animals covering every square inch each year to build up to a mile deep.

Do you see how stupid your argument is yet? Is your back yard filled with dead animals 10' deep?

Not to mention some predators eat bones

There's quite a few back there, boy. They're about 5' deep. Probably hard to dig a new grave without hitting one.

40 percent of Americans think the Earth is <10k years old

It is probably Neaderthals or Homo Denisovans, because I do not think Homo Sapiens were on the Tibetan plateau 226k years ago.

Surprisingly, 40 percent of Americans think humanity is less than 10k years old

Forty percent of U.S. adults ascribe to a strictly creationist view of human origins, believing that God created them in their present form within roughly the past 10,000 years.

Hmmm ... in a mere 169,000 and 226,000 years mud on a cave wall becomes ROCK ... hmmm ... what kind of cave was it before ???

Anyone remember the Piltdown man ... and that was over a hundred years ago ... even our resident scientist can tell you about how techniques have improved.

However, we need a resident geologist to explain how mud on a wall can turn to rock. Mud would turn to slate in sedimentary rocks ... but that requires a whole bunch of time and pressure ... must have been magic mud.

Anyhoo ... what is the purpose of bringing religon into at topic about anthropology other than to start arguements. It ruined what could have otherwise been an interesting topic.
