Academic fraud and misconduct is hardly Earth-shattering news, it happens with some regularity.

Notable Cases of Academic and Research Fraud

    • Francesca Gino (Harvard University): Her tenure was revoked after an internal investigation concluded she committed research misconduct involving fabricated data in multiple published studies. [1]
    • Diederik Stapel (Tilburg University): Known as one of the largest data fraudsters in modern science, he had dozens of papers retracted after admitting he invented data sets entirely for social psychology papers. [1]
    • Marc Hauser (Harvard University): A former evolutionary biologist found responsible for scientific misconduct and falsifying data regarding primate cognition studies, leading to federal funding bans and retractions. [1]
    • Ranga P. Dias (US), a physicist formerly at the University of Rochester, was in 2024 found by an investigatory committee to have committed research misconduct, including data fabrication and falsification, related to his work on alleged superconducting materials.[274][275] A 2023 report in Science noted that at least 21% of Dias's 2013 doctoral thesis had been plagiarised.[276] As of 2024, Dias has had five of his research papers retracted, and five other papers have received an expression of concern.
    • Tao Li, a computer science professor at the University of Florida, was accused of fabricating results and pushing his PhD student Huixiang Chen to keep pursuing a paper with false results at ISCA 2019.[247] Mr. Chen committed suicide, and ACM and IEEE found Prof. Li guilty of pressuring him after a two-year investigation. University of Florida forced Prof. Li to retire from the university after the investigation by IEEE and ACM
    • Mart Bax (Netherlands), former professor of political anthropology at the Vrije Universiteit, committed multiple acts of scientific misconduct including data fabrication,[292][293][294] with a 2020 article in Ethnologia Europaea characterizing Bax's misconduct as "incredible and appalling."[295] Bax, who as of 2020 has had nine of his research publications retracted,[296] was found in 2013 to have never published 61 of the papers he listed on his CV.
    • Diederik Stapel (Netherlands), former professor of social psychology at Tilburg University, fabricated data in dozens of studies on human behaviour,[315] a deception described by The New York Times as "an audacious academic fraud."[316
    • C. David Bridges (US), an emeritus researcher at Purdue University and formerly at Baylor College of Medicine, was found by a NIH investigation panel to have stolen ideas from a rival's manuscript that Bridges had been asked to review, and used that information to produce and publish his own research on eye enzymes.[21][22] The investigating panel described Bridges' conduct as "an egregious misconduct of science that undermines the entire concept and practice of scientific experimentation and ethical responsibility.
    • Elias Alsabti (Iraq, US), was a medical practitioner who posed as a biomedical researcher. He plagiarized as many as 60 papers in the field of cancer research, many with non-existent co-authors.

Or, like these guys who deliberately produced hoax papers with the specific intent of pointing out the fraud of many areas of academia.

Elle Oh F’ing Elle. This is legitimately funny.

You’ve spent several days saying how unimportant this is and why you don’t care.

And now you’ve started a new thread ignoring the whole point of the previous discussion.

Did you go outside yet and find a random person on the street who could explain the Jason Arday story to you?

No?

Well then it's not the Earth-shattering, blockbuster news that you really wanted it to be.

Dozens of high profile researchers are busted for plagiarism, faking data, padding their resume and there was never one day in your message board career prior to this week when you treated it as monumental blockbuster news.

I still don't give a shit about Jason Arday

But it's really funny that @cawacko and his merry band of MAGA morons never considered academic misconduct to be blockbuster, Earth-shattering news until this week.

So in othe words fuck it right? And then you shit heads are going to wonder why people dont trust all the science and academia bullshit. You people are fucked in the head.

I still don't give a shit about Jason Arday

But it's really funny that @cawacko and his merry band of MAGA morons never considered academic misconduct to be blockbuster, Earth-shattering news until this week.

Again dude, el oh f’ing Elle. You literally started a new thread on a subject you said was irrelevant just to continue the same conversation from the previous thread.

And again, good to know the NY Times, the New Yorker and the Atlantic (among others) are all now #MAGA Morons for covering and discussing this story.

This is entertainment that delivers my man.

I don't let NY Times govern what I think is actually blockbuster news. Do you let FOX dictate to you what's important?

The fact you would not accept my challenge to ask a random person on the street to explain the Jason Arday story to you just shows you know I'm right about this. You MAGA'S tried to build this up into a monumental blockbuster story, when it's basically just a human interest story, and Arday is just one of dozens of academic assholes who got busted for academic fraud

So we can disregard all the academia bullshit that you people love to throw around. Fine by me ass wipe
There are frauds and criminals in the corporate world, in politics, and in the church.

Explain to the board why you would single out academia for special punishment.

And then you shit heads are going to wonder why people dont trust all the science and academia bullshit!!
Do you stop trusting capitalism and religion because there are numerous frauds and criminals who lurk in those systems? It's a simple yes or no question.

No.....this was one of the most elite universities, and the fraud was more obvious than normal.....this is not normal. Bret has a theory that this chap was doing exactly what he was hired to do, that the University was well aware that he was a WOKE fraud....that is why he was hired.

It is honestly impressive the lengths you are going to deny the reason this story got the attention it did, as well as the amount of time you are spending telling us how unimportant it is.

A tip of the cap to you sir.
