Modern revolvers have a plate or other mechanical device preventing accidental discharge by dropping.

More importantly, you should practice with it at a range a few times to gain proficiency. .38 or .357?

The ones I have loaded are also on dead cylinder. I take them out and empty the cylinders at the gun club, then clean them, reload and put them away.

There is no legal thing called justified manslaughter. Homicide is a killing of another person, whether legal or not. So an involuntary homicide is a killing without criminal intent, so is not a crime. An involuntary manslaughter is generally a killing with criminal intent, but without the intent to kill.

So the difference is a decades in prison.

Crime is the violation of the law. involuntary homicide in New Mexico is against the law. So yes it is a crime.
