Although Winsome Sears claims to be a conservative republican, its still amazing that for the first time in Virginia's commonwealth history of 400 years that a lady of Jamaican ancestry has been elected as its lieutenant governor who has the potential of becoming governor should Youngkin screw up too much within the democratic led State of Virginia Assembly. For that I am kind of personally sooth by the entire fiasco, and I assume those red areas in the Commonwealth of Virginia are aware of who they voted for as lieutenant governor. Yet, time will tell how this plays out and its still disgusting democrats would turn traitor blue dog at voting for a tRump goober Youngkin instead of maintaining a allegiance with the Democratic Party. This includes Youngkin who has demonstrated zero accomplishments to his name, and is certainly not qualified or experienced enough to be some so-called governor. Yet again, time will tell how this plays out.
Winsome Sears, a conservative Republican, will be Virginia's next lieutenant governor, breaking barriers as the first female and the first woman of color in the office in the commonwealth's 400-year legislative history.
CNN projected Sears' win over Democrat Del. Hala Ayala, also a woman of color, on Wednesday.
Sears will serve alongside Republican Glenn Youngkin, whom CNN projected would win the Virginia gubernatorial race.
Sears, who was born in Jamaica, is the first Black Republican woman to be elected to the Virginia General Assembly, representing the 90th district from 2002 for one term. In 2004, she launched an unsuccessful bid for Congress against Democrat Rep. Bobby Scott. She is also a Marine veteran, former vice president of the Virginia Board of Education and owner of an appliance business. She is a wife and mother of three daughters. In 2012, her 27-year-old daughter DeJon L'Air Williams and two grandchildren died in a car accident."
