If they were committing crimes in proportion to their numbers in general society, this would be reflected in the incarceration rate. That is, 3 to 5% of the population are illegally in the US, then 3 to 5% of the prison population should be illegals. Blacks go to prison at a much higher rate compared to their percentage in the general population. Same thing.

With illegals, they comprise about 10 to 15% of prison populations, making their rate of incarceration about triple what their percentage in the general population is. That indicates that they go to prison, and therefore commit crimes, at a disproportionally high rate compared to their presence in the general population.

That isn't diluting their numbers by mixing in legal immigrants as some sites that are apologists for illegals do. It isn't some SWAG based on incomplete data on crime being committed. It directly measures known illegals in prison versus their estimated number in the population with a statistical range for potential errors in counting. Thus, for the estimated 11 to 15 million illegals pre-Biden in the population, and a known prison population of illegals as a percentage of the whole, it is demonstrated that they go to prison at roughly 3 times their number in the population as a whole.

The conclusion that can be drawn from that is that they commit crime at roughly triple the rate of the general population. So, it is accurate to say they commit far more crime than legal immigrants and legal citizens do.
