The engine is set back in the chassis, but being a cast iron block, heads, and intake, it makes it a bit understeer. I found it's limitations accidentally, fortunately I wasn't going that fast and gathered it back rather quickly..
That said, our toys are lots of fun, and of course we are biased toward the toys we have. I'm heading to a car show tomorrow with a few friends, should be a really nice day, although a bit cool in the morning. The Shelby has a great heater, but is basically useless. It does keep the shift hand warm if you rest it on the trans tunnel. That being extremely important... :)

Well, one of the good things about the 911 is they are useable as daily drivers even though mine is not and never has been at only 45k in 26 years. That means luxuries like heat and air, power seats, that kinda thing.

The rear engine setup is something that takes some getting used to for cornering, but once you've got it you can use the pendulum effect to swing around ridiculously quickly. Gotta be a pretty good heal/toe driver though.

Those cobras are awesome machines no doubt but I prefer something bit more useable in less than ideal conditions.

Every day is not track day, and I might wanna take it out on a day with a chance of rain or in cold/hot weather.

Where do you live that it's cool in the morning? I'm waking up at 80 degrees here in Kansas, lol.

I live in PA farm country. Lots of nice back roads, but we have wildlife here. My car club has a few cruises, but I don't go. Driving one of these things for long runs is, well, not comfortable. The sidepipe is less than 3 feet from your left ear, and this spirited big block is loud. It is tight and responsive. One must be aware of the 90 inch wheelbase and over 480 ft. lb. of torque. No idiot should ever sit his ass in one of these cars! Don't get me wrong, this thing is sharp and a blast to drive. I put 14k in 8 years. And one motor. The thumbs up and complements are always appreciated. And the 2 banana boxes full of car show trophies.
But seriously, the car shows are fun. You meet owners and see few serious cars. Everyone is friendly, sharing a bit about their cars. Hang out, talk cars and eat on a nice Saturday morning/afternoon. Oh, and you'd be surprised at how many women have some nice rides.

I don't really do shows, even though low mileage 996s are getting pretty rare. To me it's all about the drive, and the more often I can the better.

Plus the 996 doesn't get a lot of love from the "purest" Porsche guys. Mostly because it doesn't have round headlights, lol.
