"Barr taps Durham as special counsel, pushing probe into Biden era"

The whole point with the change to SC was to keep Biden from shutting Durham down.

I love it. Biden will be in the exact same position as Trump was with respect to Mullet: Biden risks an obstruction charge if he tries any malarkey with Durham.

Wouldn’t it be a hoot if Durham charges Biden with obstruction.
Unlike Trump, Biden will not interfere with the DOJ, 61. His DOJ will determine if Durham has anything.

what? I cant follow that. sorry
Durham was appointed to look at what the IG found ( 'irregularities' to use the current buzz word)
in terms of criminal violations.
He was especially to look at the predicate for the FBI counter-intelligence investigation that was turned into
the Russian Hoax by Comey and company desperate to use Steele to take out Trump

Responding to your own post, "continuation to a Special Counsel is in the same realm as the Russian Hoax investigation, it is not "politically motivated," hardly, as I showed you, Obama did not appoint Mueller, nor was Mueller appointed by a lame duck Administration, exact opposite of Durham, appointed by a departing Barr during a lame duck tenure, how can it not be politically motivated?

horsefeathers.
Trump never interfered with Mueller/ Barr never touched Mueller

FACTUAL RESULTS OF THE OBSTRUCTION INVESTIGATION

A. The Campaign's Response to Reports About Russian Support for Trump
B. The President's Conduct Concerning the Investigation of Michael Flynn
C. The President's Reaction to Public Confirmation of the FBl's Russia Investigation
D. Events Leading Up To and Surrounding the Termination of FBI Director Corney
E. The President's Efforts to Remove the Special Counsel
F. The President's Efforts to Curtail the Special Counsel Investigation
H. The President's Further Efforts to Have the Attorney General Take Over the Investigation
I. The President Orders McGahn to Deny that the President Tried to Fire the Special Counsel
J. The President's Conduct Towards Flynn, Manafort,
K. The President's Conduct Involving Michael Cohen

Mueller Conclusion

“Because we determined not to make a traditional prosecutorial judgment, we did not draw ultimate conclusions about the President's conduct. The evidence we obtained about the President's actions and intent presents difficult issues that would need to be resolved if we were making a traditional prosecutorial judgment. At the same time, if we had confidence after a thorough investigation of the facts that the President clearly did not commit obstruction of justice, we would so state. Based on the facts and the applicable legal standards, we are unable to reach that judgment. Accordingly, while this report does not conclude that the President committed a crime, it also does not exonerate him.”

“Our investigation found multiple acts by the President that were capable of exerting undue influence over law enforcement investigations, including the Russian-interference and obstruction investigations. The incidents were often carried out through one-on-one meetings in which the President sought to use his official power outside of usual channels. These actions ranged from efforts to remove the Special Counsel and to reverse the effect of the Attorney General's recusal; to the attempted use of official power to limit the scope of the investigation; to direct and indirect contacts with witnesses with the potential to influence their testimony. Viewing the acts collectively can help to illuminate their significance. For example, the President's direction to McGahn to have the Special Counsel removed was followed almost immediately by his direction to Lewandowski to tell the Attorney General to limit the scope of the Russia investigation to prospective election-interference only-a temporal connection that suggests that both acts were taken with a related purpose with respect to the investigation.”

Trump never interfered with Mueller/ Barr never touched Mueller

"touched," no, controlled, yes, as I noted above, there was a reason Mueller never went beyond looking for straight criminal offenses, Barr knew obstruction was next to impossible to prove in a court of law, and that is the reason Mueller was confined to largely procedural offenses

Billy FU-BARR will more-than-likely be under special Council investigation himself by FEBRUARY!

Which amounted to a colossal waste of time and tax dollars.

They could have had Manafort under Obama. Nobody cared about him—except it was a road to Trump.

Couldn’t charge Papadopolis with anything of significance—spent all of two weeks in jail. They dropped the charges on Flynn after an investigation of the sham ‘investigation’ on him. Stone was a harmless crank. The Russians had the audacity to actually show up for a hearing and Mullet dropped it.

And Carter Page is getting ready to take some of those jokers to court. It will be settled out of court because the defendant [the government, the individuals responsible will never be accountable for anything unless Durham comes through] can’t risk going through discovery.

It was a fricking circus—and they never got what they were after because there was never any there, there.

Hello archives,

"Attorney General William Barr has appointed U.S. attorney John Durham as a special counsel to investigate the origins of the FBI’s probe of Russian interference in the 2016 election."

"The appointment formalizes Durham’s ongoing probe, but more significantly, would give Durham latitude to continue the politically explosive investigation after President-elect Joe Biden takes office in January."

"The extension of Durham's probe into the Biden administration raises the specter that it could stretch even longer than Mueller's 22-month probe of Russian interference and the Trump campaign. Democrats noted the duration of Durham's efforts and blasted Barr for his decision."

“In an appointment secretly conferred on Durham prior to the election and only disclosed now that Barr concedes there is no evidence of election fraud to overturn the results, Barr is using the special counsel law for a purpose it was not intended: to continue a politically motivated investigation long after Barr leaves office"

Must be Billy Barr felt he could at least appease Trump after declaring even he couldn't find any fraud in the 2020 election and had to publicly admit the truth

Interesting how the champion for the imperial presidency, who was appointed as Trump's fixer for largely authoring a lengthy narrative on his disapproval of Mueller investigating a sitting President, appoints a Special Prosecutor during a lame duck period on his way out the door.

Matters little, obvious Durham ain't found anything in the seven months he has been at it, and although it is questionable if Biden could fire Durham, the new AG can control the scope and size of Druham's investigation, just like Rosenstein and Barr did with Mueller, ain't going to be any probe into "the truth ain't the truth" Rudi's Biden innuendos

Bogus desperation act. Easily undone by new AG firing SP.

Not true, Biden's AG can oversea anything Durham is doing, control his investigation, just as Barr did with Mueller, and if nothing else, cut his funding to just about nothing

Mullet was ‘under control’ lol?

Couldn’t tell by watching. Sending SWAT teams in on the elderly is kind of ‘out of control’.

Christ it's been so long I can't even recall the scope of Durham's charter ...
one of these days Durham will croak up results.

The Durham investigation has been going on since May 2019 "to determine whether intelligence collection activities by the U.S. government relating to the Trump 2016 Presidential Campaign were lawful and appropriate.”

So far he's found (or rather the IG, Horowitz, found) a junior FBI lawyer who admitted altering an email in the Carter Page saga.

It may take some time to unravel the whole conspiracy ...

I still dont follow the point,
but this SCounsel isn't out of the blue if that's what you mean. Durham has been around for like 18 months?
Only his status has changed...

the inference is he has something or Durham wouldn't go along for the ride just because Barr might want him to otherwise

no no.
Durham has only charged Kevin Clinesmith -but Horowitz fond many cases of FISA abuses etc.
I think that's where criminal intent has to be proven -like omitting exculpatory evidence...
but im just guessing

There were at least two unlawful activities: one with Clinesmith and the other against Carter Page.

Those are the ones we know about it. If Barr really thinks Durham has nothing else what was the point in insulating him from the next administration? If Durham is done why would it matter if Biden shut him down?

What will get shutdown for definite is any investigation into Hunter Biden. Hunter is probably sleeping better lately.

You still don’t get it 61, it’s nothing more than to appease the man child in the WH.

cant shut down a Special Counsel without being accused of political motivations to do so
See why they are loathsome constructs? they run wild

I doubt that buyden is worried about being accused of having a political motivation.
