I have a few theories. None of them reflect well on the Trumpists, of course. Mainly, I think that the average Trumpist is actually stupid. They may not be unintelligent, but they are demonstrably undereducated. They really can't think any better. Secondly, I think that old, white people really are terrified of losing "their" country. They don't like to see other skin colors. They don't like to hear other languages. They don't like to smell other kinds of food. They don't like to see houses of worship with weird architecture.

They're hicks -- straight up. They don't have much in the way of formal education. They don't read. They don't travel. They don't know any language besides English, which they butcher because they're undereducated and don't have the comparative linguistic benefits of knowing another language. They'll pick McDonald's over sushi or Indian food every day.

They were always racist morons, but during the time of "political correctness" they were forced to keep it behind closed doors. Trump gave them permission to be proud of their stupidity and racism. And so here we are. In order to restore a civilized society, we have to push these people back into the closet.
