The Federal Aviation Administration under President Joe Biden is proposing levying more than $500,000 in fines against airline passengers who disrupted flights in recent months with fights over masks, violence against crew and fellow passengers, and general boorishness.

The proposed fines announced against 34 passengers actually total $531,545, and bring the total of fines levied so far this year to more than $1 million, according to an FAA press release. They have received "approximately 3,889 reports of unruly behavior by passengers, including about 2,867 reports of passengers refusing to comply with the federal facemask mandate."
