BLM chapter calls American flag 'symbol of hatred'

Agreed not all American students are equally educated nor do they have access to equal educational opportunities. This is an economic class problem. While I'm not a fan of the Feds taking over schools from states, I fully support there be agreement between states on some basic standards of education, the Feds supplying better tools for education and for government, at every level, seek to maximize the education of K-12 Americans.

Totally agree with ya here...per-pupil funding is not the same from district-to-district, and Flash knows that.

Not speaking for Flash, but my reading of his posts indicates he does understand the problem, but like me, has some misgivings about how the Feds can fix it when even local districts are fucking it u. Note his comment about the admin building vs. leaky schools.

BTW, I love this meme:

Why do you keep saying this when it is completely untrue!?

Do you think every student in this country gets the same amount spent on them, or is your average being skewed by wealthier school districts?

My post says nothing about every student getting the same amount spent on them. It says spending per pupil has increased faster than inflation (as performance has declined.)

From what I've read, the spending is increased in wealthier communities and not in poorer communities. This means that, per inflation, the money in poorer communities has actually dropped. That's the money side.

The performance side is that the poorer communities are failing to educated their kids and the collected scores of those poorer kids are dragging down the national average as more and more kids fall below middle-class.

Ergo, the problem isn't money per se, but how that money is distributed by the states and local communities.

Again, I'm against more Federal dollars just being handed out. I do, however, fully support Federal programs which will bring down the cost of education while increasing the results.

I think it has increased in all communities but did not increase as fast in rural areas. There are a lot of poor kids in NYC, Boston, and D.C. which are among the highest per pupil expenditures. Rural areas also have a much lower cost of living.

"According to new Annual Survey of School System Finances tables, released today by the U.S. Census Bureau, per pupil spending for elementary and secondary public education (pre-K through 12th grade) for all 50 states and the District of Columbia increased by 5.0% to $13,187 per pupil during the 2019 fiscal year, compared to $12,559 per pupil in 2018. This is the largest increase in more than a decade. Data for this report covers the fiscal year before the COVID-19 pandemic.
The spending increase was due in part to an overall increase in revenue. In 2019, public elementary and secondary schools received $751.7 billion from all revenue sources, up 4.5% from $719.0 billion in 2018.

  • State governments contributed the greatest share — 46.7% or $350.9 billion — of public school funding in fiscal year 2019.

  • New York ($25,139), the District of Columbia ($22,406), which comprises a single urban district; Connecticut ($21,310), New Jersey ($20,512), and Vermont ($20,315) spent the most per pupil in fiscal year 2019.

  • Of the 100 largest public school systems (based on enrollment), the six that spent the most per pupil in FY 2019 were the New York City School District in New York ($28,004), Boston City Schools in Massachusetts ($25,653), Washington Schools in the District of Columbia ($22,406), San Francisco Unified in California ($17,228), Atlanta School District in Georgia ($17,112), and Seattle Public Schools in Washington ($16,543).

  • Public school systems in Alaska (15.3%), Mississippi (14.0%), South Dakota (13.7%), New Mexico (13.0%) and Arizona (12.9%) received the highest percentage of their revenues from the federal government, while public school systems in New Jersey (4.1%), Connecticut (4.3%), Massachusetts (4.3%), New York (4.8%) and New Hampshire (5.0%) received the lowest.

  • Total public school district debt increased by 3.7% to $495.1 billion in fiscal year 2019 from $477.4 billion in fiscal year 2018."

It's not just looking at the spending of the Feds, States and local, but how and where they spend their money. Obiously a NY state education problem is a NY state problem. Period.

That said, it's a national security issue for the Feds to ensure a reasonable level of health and education for American citizens. IMO, We the People are failing to do so which is why there are so many fucking morons running loose in the nation that it looks like Idiocracy.

My post says nothing about every student getting the same amount spent on them.

OK, but again Flash, you are doing that thing where you disseminate patently false talking points and then pretend like you're not responsible for them...even though you are spreading them yourself.

t says spending per pupil has increased faster than inflation (as performance has declined.)

But you don't know if that's true for every student because you are just dumbly looking at the overall average per student.

It's a variation of your "apples and oranges are the same thing because they're both fruit" way of process; there are no distinctions while specificity and accuracy are all lost.

You know you're doing it too, which makes it even worse.

Totally agree with ya here...per-pupil funding is not the same from district-to-district, and Flash knows that.

Flash knows that and that is whey he never said anything even close to claiming per-pupil funding is the same in every district. READ LV426

What Flash really said: "We spend billions on education and spending per pupil has increased more than inflation even in districts that have not increased in students."

I don't know, but the Democrats sure as shit ain't pushing any. All I see them pushing is "Free College!" not "Fix the fucking K-12 Schools!"

You're the one who doesn't want to fix the schools because you don't want to pay teachers more.

The reason we have garbage schools is because we can't find enough competent and skilled people to teach our kids for $35K a year.

If you paid teachers the same wage you pay hedge fund bankers, you'd see more teachers and less hedge fund bankers.

Flash knows that and that is whey he never said anything even close to claiming per-pupil funding is the same in every district.

Right, because what you did instead was relay and disseminate false talking points in order to falsely frame the conversation, throwing up your hands by saying "it's not ME saying it, it's someone else and I'm just repeating it".

That gives you plausible deniability.

What Flash really said: "We spend billions on education and spending per pupil has increased more than inflation even in districts that have not increased in students."

The bolded implies that all students saw spending per pupil increase, but that's not something you can prove without getting into finite, district-specific spending and data...and we know from experience with you that very often, you present only the superficial and leave out that which is exculpatory.

It's you generalizing inaccurately, using an aggregated average...isn't it?

Ah jeez. Now your lying like those RW cucks and cunts....or do you have a quote unlike them? LOL

So you DO want to pay teachers more money, then.

OK...what do you think they should get? I think it should be around what a hedge fund manager makes. That way, we can attract the top talent.

Do you agree, or do you not think we should spare any expense when it comes to the education of our youth?

No chance of that, I'm safe and quite proficient with a firearm.
