n a fiery Fourth of July Facebook post, Utah’s Black Lives Matter Chapter declared the American flag "a symbol of hatred."

"When we Black Americans see this flag we know the person flying it is not safe to be around," the post reads. "When we see this flag we know the person flying it is a racist. When we see this flag we know that the person flying it lives in a different America than we do. When we see this flag, we question your intelligence. We know to avoid you. It is a symbol of hatred."

Chapter founder Lex Scott confirmed to Fox News Wednesday that her group had made the post to highlight how hate groups can allegedly "co-opt" the American flag without prompting similar blowback.

The American Flag stands for "Liberty and Justice for all".

Does anybody believe that there's been Liberty and Justice for all African Americans over the last 200 years?

I wouldn't call the American Flag a 'symbol of hatred' but the flag surely didn't symbolize Liberty and Justice for African Americans.

Anything can be turned into a symbol of hatred. The KKK used the cross as a symbol of hatred. The crusaders used the cross as a symbol of conquest. You fucking lefties search for ways to be offended. Can one person of color say they aren't better off than they were in the 50's? Things change slowly we are leaps and bounds ahead of where we were in the 1st half of the 20th century when it comes to race and equality!
 
No doubt some feel that way (the flag is hate). Presently more right wing white nationalists do than ever before, as according to the FBI they are the greatest existential terrorist threat facing the USA.
