EDIT: What are the limits on punishment? Some forums have one day or hourly based tempbans.* Is there a minimum you can set? It's not like you're dealing with a lot of rocket scientists here. Some need a handslap for violating the rules, but not a beating or a grounding. My guess is that 1 day minimum be set for any rules that could make JPP liable for allowing beyond a reasonable limit. Not a lawyer, but do know a lot about CYA.
*the one I liked best was giving Mod-on-duty the power to do limited hourly bans. 12-hours is enough to allow a second mod to check-in and agree upon a sterner punishment or let it go. If a member feels picked on by a single mod with these bans, especially if a pattern that it's always let go, then Admin needs to do something about it.
