The reason social welfare hasn't worked well in America, but has worked in Europe, is because aside from America having a lot more black and brown people, we also never took social welfare seriously. In America, welfare keeps people alive, but it doesn't give them the opportunities that they need to stay alive while moving up the social ladder.

Furthermore, we aren't even separating families, we're holding them together for twenty days, and releasing them into our country. Kids are only being separated from the Coyotes and child traffickers. I guess that pisses libs off, and they WANT these kids exploited and abused. There is no other explanation.

$22 trillion over 50 years is very serious especially when the plan was to eradicate poverty.

And who's fault is that? If people are actually lifted out of poverty, they might not continue to vote Democrat.

You're not wrong though, the system does actually penalize those welfare recipients who want to work. I've been saying this for years. It should be designed to encourage people to work.

Poor people are actually more likely to vote Republican.

People choose not to work when the become hopeless. I'd be fine with limiting social programs to people with jobs, but the programs have to be enough that people with full time jobs aren't living in poverty.

Of course detention was "well thought out" ... by Obama who built and maintained the facility. "The admin. deliberately" places children in separate facilities to keep them safe from child predators while in detention, and DHS was providing educational support until it became a financial impossibility because D's wouldn't fund it. No Christian, sane person, or child services professional would support the neglect and abuse the 2000 mile hike entails ... let alone that death march culminating in drowning in the Rio Grande. Pay attention to Pelosi's surrender. The DNC smokescreen is dissipating, and Pelosi wants D's to wash the blood off their hands before it completely evaporates.

That requires people having and using personal responsibility. Something the Democrat party gave up on a long time ago. Everyone is now a victim, and must be treated with kid gloves.
