California lands six universities in the global top 25

I don't give a rat's ass about your job.

Well, you wouldn't. I mean you've made MILLIONS OF DOLLARS for Exxon.

Anyone who claims to have commuted "every day" from Kenner to UNO on Airline Highway simply cannot be trusted to tell the truth.

You wouldn't be lying if I had said any of that. But I didn't and it has been explained to you. So either you are enormously hindered by mental challenges or you are a liar who cannot speak truthfully.

LOL. I wasn't a paper-pusher publishing obscure articles nobody other than five people reads.

That's funny. Says the man who just blathered page after page after page about the wonders of how many Nobels this or that university got.

The work at Exxon Exploration Company was proprietary and Exxon does not share those results with competitors. We could get in trouble from leaving seismic data open on our workstation and not locking the screen when we went to lunch.

And you didn't publish anything from your thesis? Didn't have any work worthy of publication from your research before you became a corporate shill?

The PhDs at Exxon Production and Research Company might get the glory of publishing an article in public journals.

Yeah, I get that. Not universally the only people who get to publish but I totally understand that. I was lucky and I didn't just work at one place I got in a lot of time before I joined Industry to publish and present at conferences. Once I joined industry the publications dried up but the patents served the same purpose.

I was never interested in writing papers hardly any human being would read.

I wanted to be involved in work that made something useful for America or that served the public interest.

^^^^THIS is hilarious. A moron like Into the Night says "there are no geoscience jobs" and Cypress HAS TO RESPOND WITH EVIDENCE THAT THERE IS.

This is fuckin' hilarious!

Give it a rest Cy, no one takes Into's posts seriously. Do you HONESTLY think you need to prove that geology is real?

Wow you are about as easily triggered as that one famous nuclear core from the late 40's.
I never said there are no 'geoscience jobs'. There is simply no such thing as 'geoscience'.
You don't get to speak for everyone. Omniscience fallacy.
Geology is not 'geoscience'.

Nope, no paper. Seismic, gravity, and well log data are all digitized and the multinational oil companies had world class technology to handle and evaluate the copious amounts of data they acquired and maintained.

What is something real, tangible, and useful to America your professional work helped produce, assuming you had a career.
What 'data'?
What is 'world class technology'?

Buzzword fallacy.
Void reference fallacy.

Show laces are not a valid patent!

BRCĒ shoe laces patent

Protected by U.S. Patent #12,408,733 and international PCT filings, BRCĒ’s Lattice Grip Technology™ re-engineers how materials grip and hold tension.

BRCĒ laces introduce engineered micro-ridge structures—think microscopic scales—woven throughout the lace fibers. When the lace is tied and tension is applied, these microscopic ridges interlock with one another, creating a dynamic mechanical grip that holds up under motion, sweat, pressure, and force

What 'data'?
What 'world class technology'?!

ExxonMobil develops ‘cutting-edge’ 4D seismic tech and supercomputer

Nearly 50 years ago ExxonMobil revolutionized oil and gas exploration with 3D seismic imaging, sending seismic sound waves deep into the Earth’s subsurface and recording the echoes that bounce back to create detailed maps of underground formations.

“Researchers use supercomputers, which are purpose-built to handle complex data, to turn sound wave data into detailed 3D images of the Earth’s geological formations. This breakthrough became the industry standard, revealing oil and gas deposits with unprecedented accuracy.”

According to the U.S. giant, its Discovery 6 supercomputer is the result of a strong collaboration, built by Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) and accelerated by NVIDIA, to deliver up to four times faster performance compared to its previous supercomputer, Discovery 5.

Go learn what a patent is, Cyborg.

Marketing BS.

More marketing BS. Exxon does not build computers.

You still haven't answer my question. What 'world class technology'?
Why are you bring up something from 50 years ago?

What 'world class technology'?

Exxon Recieves SEG Award for Inventing 3-D Seismic Technology

"3-D seismic technology has revolutionized the search for oil and gas by providing detailed subsurface images that increase drilling success from wildcats in frontier basins to infill locations in producing fields. Exxon, 1999 recipient of SEG’s Distinguished Achievement Award, invented 3-D seismic exploration, applied it on a proprietary basis, and demonstrated its utility to the geophysical profession through presentations and publications."

What 'world class technology'?

I sell my instruments all over the world too.
What is so special about 'world class technology'? Just what IS 'world class technology'?

You didn't want to see documented evidence that independent arbiters acknowledged Exxon's technological leadership?
Just what IS 'world class technology'?
Cutting edge, industry-leading proprietary technology you will not find in most universities, most government agencies, or in small companies. The technology and computing power I saw at Exxon generally exceeded anything I ever saw in public universities, state agencies, small to middling private employers.
