California lands six universities in the global top 25

NOLA wasn't a paradise on earth either!
You can search until the cows come home, and you won't find any post of mine saying it's paradise on Earth.
If you prefer El Paso, Houston, Little Rock, Oklahoma City, etc. better than New Orleans, just say so. It's no skin off my teeth.
Some of us had to drive every day down Airline highway past all the motel-notels!
I don't remember Airline Drive being a scary place. Are you easily frightened?
Some of us had to go to the seedy dentist in the 9th Ward and see what real systemic poverty looks like!
That's weird. One of you is lying. Your buddy says he liked the 9th ward, and thought it was even better than the French Quarter.
👇
9th ward is a unique neighborhood.
I actually like that better than the Quarter!

It's not scary. Murph is correct about it being notell motels. They're all whore houses.

Better than the F.Q. It's relative. What do like better, a cess pool or a sewer?
and thought it was even better than the French Quarter.
Correct. The F.Q. smelled like piss every time I went there since about the 80s. Ninth Ward didn't.
And from the few times I remember going down there the garbage didn't look like it had piled up for weeks.

I don't give a rat's ass where you went to college or what your professional degree is.

I'm taking exception to you and Murphy taking turns tearing down New Orleans as supposedly an appalling shithole. Something to be avoided like the plague.

I thought New Orleans was a great and classic American city with culture, ambiance, tradition, music, food easily surpassing anything I ever experienced in Houston, San Antonio, Jacksonville, El Paso, Orlando, Phoenix, Tampa, Baltimore, Denver.

On top of that New Orleans has the best higher education in the whole state of Louisiana.

I'm just not seeing the reasons to look down your noses at N.O. and write it off as a dystopian hellscape.
I suggest you go to NO, get a flat, and walk away from your car for an hour. 😆
Criminals get away with things in NOLA that Florida simply does not put up with.

This discussion about New Orleans has gone on for pages, and the only thing you could think to contribute is a post about the crime, violence, poverty in N.O., and how you essentially barricaded yourself in residential neighborhoods in the suburbs or near Lake Ponchatrane away from the core of classical New Orleans.

Me and all my white collar professional buddies working down on Poydras Street tended to enjoy New Orleans as a classic American city with unique vibrant culture, ambience, aesthetics, traditions, music, and food.

For those qualities, I think New Orleans easily surpasses Oklahoma City, Dallas, El Paso, Orlando, Little Rock, Jacksonville, Tampa, Baltimore, Phoenix, Kansas City.
You better not stray off the safe streets, lily white boy. Going over a block could be bad for you.

They're all whore houses!
Yeah, that never happens in other big cities🤣
Airline Drive didn't freak me out, you seem very sensitive.
smelled like piss every time I went there!
 this is hilarious.
You seem to think that in my 20 month residency, rather than spending all my time enjoying the cool and interesting things NOLA had to offer, I was obligated to go hang out in the low income and economically distressed neighborhoods, LOL

Airline Drive didn't freak me out, you seem very sensitive.

You probably liked staying at the Sugar Bowl Court! Seems like your kinda place.

For the record you moron, it wasn't "scary" just really sad and sickening. The fact that you thought it was part of the New Orleans culture you valued so much tells us a LOT about the kind of person you are and what you REALLY thought of NOLA.

 this is hilarious.

Ummm, it DID smell like piss. All the time. Especially on hot summer days. No one in their right mind ignores that unless they were a TOURIST.

C'mon man, you didn't live in NOLA. You visited on business or something. You didn't LIVE THERE.

Fuuuuck, there's not a New Orleanian who would deny that the FQ smelled of piss.

Yeah, that never happens in other big cities🤣

Sounds to me like prostitution offends you. I'm all for it. It's been legal in Germany for decades. Whores provide a valuable service to the clients and it's good for society apparently. Get in a fight w/ your spouse, go fuck a whore. I never heard of domestic violence when i live there. For 3.5 years, not 20 months.
 this is hilarious.
You seem to think that in my 20 month residency,
Ah , now we're getting to the truth. You were there working for peanuts getting training.
rather than spending all my time enjoying the cool and interesting things NOLA had to offer, I was obligated to go hang out in the low income and economically distressed neighborhoods, LOL
20 months is nothing. I'm sure i went through a 20 month period without my house or office getting broken in to or having friends or a relative getting murdered. Two of which were home invasions , the other riding his bicycle on the way to have dinner w/ his mother. Google "jack bartlett murder nerw Orleans" . I'm sure it'll come up.
You might also want to google Linda Frickey.

20 months is nothing!
I'm starting to wonder if you actually lived in New Orleans at all. Given that you confidently announced the oil companies all bugged out in the 1980s, when I easily showed you that Chevron, Mobil, Shell, Exxon maintained offices and thousands of employees in N.O. into the 1990s.

It's also curious that you and @murph63 cannot agree on whether the ninth ward was an impoverished dystopian hellscape, or whether it was cooler than the French Quarter. One of you guys is lying about living there.

No one has ever been angry at me before for enjoying living in New Orleans for a couple years 🤣

Ummm, it DID smell like piss! All the time!
Angry?

I saw cops all over the place in the French Quarter, and they can and will arrest you for public urination. I was warned against even trying to take a piss.

N.O. is a funky city in a subtropical climate. Sometimes I would smell some funk in the quarter, but that was the exception not the rule.

Why do you and @Moosakofsky have such different and contradictory descriptions of the ninth ward?

You ignore the fates of my deceased friend Jack and Linda Frickey. Not surprised. The likes of you, Tiny Penis, Lurch, and Bowel et al condone the murders of innocent people.

You admitted you did a residency which means they used you for peanuts in a training locale where nothing was happening.
It's also curious that you and @murph63 cannot agree on whether the ninth ward was an impoverished dystopian hellscape, or whether it was cooler than the French Quarter. One of you guys is lying about living there.
I have no doubt you resided in the burbs and strolled in the riverwalk and ate a beniegn at cafe du monde. No different than other tourists.

Angry?

The cops now allow innocent drivers to run red lights so they don’t get carjacked.
:truestory:

Take a shower every now and then. It might be more apparent.

You apparently didn’t see my assessment of St. Claude avenue where the dentists are. They work for Joey Lacoste right out school. They’re clueless.

Jesus dude, you didn't live there. C'mon. Everyone LITERALLY everyone knew it smelled of urine in the Quarter. That's a given.

Only a tourist who visited maybe when Disney came through to premier the Princess and the Frog would think it different. that was literally the ONLY time I recall the Quarter being clean and urine free.

Now I'm convinced you are lying about having lived in New Orleans. The historic Creole-French fine-dining restaurants in the quarter wouldn't stay in business if there was a constant, ubiquitous offensive reek of piss in the air.

Your claims are getting more questionable by the hour. Only the mentally ill would fabricate a story about having lived in NOLA. Why would you do that?

I don't live there "now". I haven't lived there since the 1990s.

I don't think you are a reliable source of information on New Orleans, given how badly you flubbed your confident announcement that all the oil companies had completely bugged out of New Orleans back in the 1980s.

Ummm, it DID smell like piss. All the time!
The fancy Creole-French restaurants, bistros, & cafes wouldn't be able to stay in business if the French Quarter constantly reeked of an offensive piss odor "all the time". :palm: I don't think you actually lived in NOLA. You are making statements about NOLA that make no sense.

Airline Highway - the road Murphy finds terrifying and traumatic 🤣

If you lived in Kenner and worked at/attended University of New Orleans, what on Earth were you doing driving on Airline Highway "every day"? Why didn't you take Interstate 10?
.

I10 was a mess. Traffic there was stop and go from Clearview on during the morning commute .
Airline Hwy. , north to Causeway , right on W. Esplanade is a better way to get to the Lakefront.
You never lived there.
