China looking to build naval base on Africa’s Atlantic coast

Nixon understood this and played the "China card" by triangulating against the USSR thru 'ping pong' diplomacy.
I'm old enough to remember this and it was a successful policy for decades

we could do the same thing again against China, but Russiaphobia drives our policy and is ingrained in our intelligence analysis....so we expand NATO ( and pay the costs and materials) when instead
we should be expanding forces in the western Pacific, and trying to compete in Africa for resources

I see everything from "All hope for us in Africa is already over" to "Hold the phone, China is bungling, we still have a shot".

Do you know the truth?

Russia is on Team China now, when we deal with one we are also dealing with the other, we forced them into it a few years back, because our foreign policy brain trust is completely incompetent.
they still dont have a unified military command, and Putin would still want western markets....
but the longer and harder we push China and Russia together, the less we can undo it -agreed

The FM of Congo (?) was complaining about Chinese debt traps just recently
( China lends money for say port infrastructure and takes over operations when nations default)

China is still WAY ahead of us in terms of soft power, but we dont really try to compete..
we could and win some as well

I have almost no visibility on Africa, we stopped caring, we rarely even hear about the starving babies anymore.

We sure did a number on South Africa though didnt we!

What a disaster.

China’s Grand Strategy also seeks to build on and expand its financial reach beyond its borders through increased investments by private and public entities. The multibillion dollar “One Belt, One Road” initiative, which aims to strengthen infrastructure, trade, and development links between China, Africa, the Gulf countries, Asia, and Europe, is central to this effort.

China sees Africa as playing a key role in accomplishing these goals. Africa is recognized as an emerging market with high dividends despite high risks. Gaining a competitive advantage in less secure political and economic environments allows China’s diplomats and state-backed industrialists to nurture personal ties and negotiate deals outside formal institutions. This is a central idea in Chinese culture that is known as guanxi. It refers to a system of social networks and influential relationships that facilitate business and political dealings through personal ties, favors, and hierarchies. These play a major role in Chinese dealings with African business, political, and military leaders.

Africa is also the source of rare earth minerals and other natural resources that are crucial to the continued growth of the Chinese economy. The One Belt One Road initiative is aimed in part at diversifying China’s access to these resources.

The extremely racist Han, and the African natives..... far inferior people..... in partnership.......how does that go?

Remember too at in China currently negative feelings towards anyone not Han is really ramping up.....particularly towards Americans I might add......they are now showing us that they are coming for blood..... they fully intend to kick the shit out of us.

The Africans inside of China are talking.

As long as it's business, but Africans are starting to figure out China doesn't GAF about black Africans.

I'd have to source, but Africa in general was thrilled with the economic development
by partnering with China
Now -not so much- as they see how China comes out the winner in these

Do you remember how that was advertised as women power, because the top three people in charge on the American side were all women, because Obama did not really care and being able to delegate to women was supposed to make him look good?

That sure did work out well!

Samantha Power, Susan Rice and Hillary Clinton..may they all rot in hell

The United States of America along with corporate Wall Street single handily handed over this nations labor economy to the Chinese for profits and now they own the world....why be shocked, when they're doing exactly what we did when we once owned the world???
