I kind of does.
The Earth and the Sun orbit each other.
The center point is called the barycenter.
Relative to Earth, the Sun orbits at a distance of 279 miles from the Sun's center. The Sun is always opposite Earth.
Earth's orbit is close to circular, but not quite.
The perihelion occurs during Winter in the northern hemisphere.
Aphelion occurs during Summer in the northern hemisphere.
This produces milder winters and cooler and longer summers for the northern hemisphere.
The southern hemisphere experiences the opposite: harsh winters (aphelion) and short and intense hot summers (perihelion).
The Moon and the Earth also orbit each other in much the same way. It is why we have two tide cycles each day.

It's ok. It has it's moments, but it also has some really lame moments.
Fair enough, just as I posted my opinion.
But the movie isn't a religion.
You don't have to be an expert to know how well regarded Stanley Kubrick is as a film maker. You just have to read and watch movies.
His reputation pretty much precedes him.

But in the end YOU WILL KNOW CY WAS RIGHT. Cy is ALWAYS RIGHT. His mommy told him so.

He was a decent cinematographer and director. Some films came out good, others not so well.
A film is much more than just a director though.
I think his best work is the black comedy "Dr Strangelove". The best talent and what made the movie such a success was Peter Sellers and Slim Pickens as the Texas pilot.
"Gentleman! You can't fight in here! This is the war room!"
This movie was very loosely based on the book, "Red Alert", by Peter Bryant. A more serious version was made called "Failsafe", and was closer to the book.

Of these, Spartacus was done well. Kirk Douglass and Tony Curtis really brought it off well. It varied somewhat from the actual history of Spartacus. The variation did produce a good end, however. These two actors really work well together. Also Dr Strangelove, which I just posted about.
Full Metal Jacket came off pretty well, mostly due to the Lee Ermey's performance and Matt Modine. It's ending was kind of weak.
2001 had it's moments, but was uneven. Good cinematography for much of it though, even though other parts were lame. I know a number of people exited the theater after that one exclaiming, "What just happened?"
The other three did not come off very well at all. Some people like them, though.

Some did walk out.
I stayed to see the end, despite the unevenness of it.
I was disappointed. Not really his best film, and certainly not up to the qualify of the book.
The Star Child and the trip through the Star Gate was poorly done. The book described it much better.
The Moon transit and Discovery were done well. The Monolith mystery was fairly well portrayed.
Mad Magazine sure roasted it properly.
Frankly, I preferred more of the works of Blake Edwards or Mel Brooks. Hilarious stuff!

Actually I liked the Arthur C. Clark novel better, but I almost always like books better than their film adaptation.
The fact that I have recollections of enjoying the film as a kid with my Pop at the theater Indicates to me that the film was visually arresting and memorable enough to make an impression on a child.

Various Kung Fu movies have had their moments as well.
One of the best is "Kung Fu Hustle", a hilarious comedy throughout, but has a poignant ending.
I happen to like the animated Avatar series and Legend of Kora series. There is good humor in there.
The Matrix had its good moments, and some great chase scenes, particularly in Reloaded.
Resurrections sucked.
I always like a good comedy western as well.
"Blazing Saddles" of course has already been mentioned.
"Support Your Local Sheriff" and "Support Your Local Gunfighter" are good ones. So is "Paint Your Wagon".
