CNN’s Gupta: CCP Virus escaped from Wuhan lab

Science is not something you can use at your convenience.

It is something that is consistent and reliable whether it produces results you agree or disagree with.

The WHO has determined that it is extremely unlikely that Gupta is able to make a definitive determination as to the source of the coronavirus.

No, because if he linked to CNN article about this, it would prove that he is a liar. But we already knew that.

Actually Dr. Gupta doesn't believe this; it's #TRE45ON's former CDC Redfield pushing the bullshit:

"Dr. Robert Redfield, the former director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), says that he believes the novel coronavirus escaped from a lab in Wuhan, according to news reports. However, many experts have rejected that theory as unlikely.

"In an interview with CNN released Friday (March 26), Redfield stressed that this was his "opinion" on the origins of the virus, and he did not cite any evidence for that theory. "I'm allowed to have opinions now," he said.

"I'm of the point of view that I still think the most likely etiology of this pathogen in Wuhan was from a laboratory, you know, escaped," Redfield told CNN's Dr. Sanjay Gupta. "Other people don't believe that, that's fine. Science will eventually figure it out."

The WHO has determined that it is extremely unlikely that Gupta is able to make a definitive determination as to the source of the coronavirus.

And Gupta didn't cite any evidence, he just said that it would be logical for Redfield to have the information necessary to make an informed opinion. But frankly, I don't trust anyone that was appointed by Trump and didn't call him out. I would add that Redfield now works for 'Big Ass Fans' (not a typo), a company who is making highly dubious claims about its products effectiveness against Covid-19. So Redfield has basically impugned himself. He no longer has any credibility.

The WHO has determined that it is extremely unlikely that Gupta is able to make a definitive determination as to the source of the coronavirus.
the WHO are a bunch of CCP lackeys -they didnt have access to the Wuhan lab except for a cursory walk thru
China has had problems with virus escaping before -why wouldn't the most straight forward answer be the truth?
The other guy said it would be a leap to believe the COVID mutated thru species that quickly, Occams Razor

So, it raises the question of whether it was intentional or accident. It raises the question of why such an obvious connection was buried for so long. Why the big cover up? It raises the question of whether the CCP military was involved with it.

To name a few. You don’t think it matters that the virus is essentially man made? No biggie?
Let's be sure to understand exactly what Gupta did and didn't say

'My point is that it's a much more informed sort of thing for him to be saying than for anybody who may have expertise in virology, because he has a lot more knowledge and information that he has that maybe he can't share, but is informing his opinion,' said Gupta.
So...he was a trump lackey who was put in charge of the CDC. We know that the CDC became a propaganda wing of the White House, so that automatically dismisses any of the partisan nonsense coming from any of trump's cabinet members. Gupta is 'guessing' that there was some super secret information that nobody else is privy to.

At this point, we know that there wasn't.

'I was not as shocked by what he said as the fact that he said it,' Gupta said. 'There's reason to suspect that this is the origin of the virus.'
LOL. That's hardly a glowing review of the comment re the lab. It's just as easy to 'suspect' that the virus came from trump's ass.
'It's a big virology lab right in Wuhan that happened to be studying bat coronaviruses. Just from an Occam's razor standpoint, finding the simplest explanation, it would make sense,' he said, adding, 'We still don't know for certain what the origin is.'

So Occam's Razor might also suggest that the virus originated in trump's big fat orange ass.

No, because if he linked to CNN article about this, it would prove that he is a liar. But we already knew that.
The Google link shows the interview. Not surprisingly, Gupta did not say what the thread title suggests.

The real question, which the OP tends to avoid in every thread, is 'why did trump cover up the fact that the virus was here?'

I now find that I have more than one friend who probably had the virus in late November '19
'

Hello Darth,

Gupta has no proof. It is merely opinion.

Everyone seemed to like Gupta’s opinions till this one came along. It’s WHO’s *opinion* that it didn’t come from the lab.

Care to guess why no one can prove their opinions?

And why do the lefties seem as though they have a dog in the fight?

it's amazing.
they defend the CCP for some twisted mindset about Trump...I cant even bend my mind to figure out their "reasoning"

But WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said he does not believe the team's assessment of the lab leak possibility was extensive enough.

"Although the team has concluded that a laboratory leak is the least likely hypothesis, this requires further investigation, potentially with additional missions involving specialist experts, which I am ready to deploy," he told WHO members, according to a written statement.

Jamie Metzl, a senior fellow at the Atlantic Council, has been an outspoken proponent of such an investigation.

"I'm not saying that I am certain that COVID-19 stems from an accidental lab leak, but it would be absolutely irresponsible and could only be politically motivated to say that it's not even worth having a full investigation," he said.

A State Department fact sheet from mid-January highlights reports of sick lab researchers at the Wuhan Institute of Virology in the fall of 2019, notes the dangerous type of coronavirus research the lab was conducting and said there was also secret military activity at the lab.

China has refuted the claims. Critics of the WHO report, such as Metzl, said the expert team that visited the lab took their Chinese interlocutors at their word and didn't dig. Metzl said that's insufficient.

Fact Sheet: Activity at the Wuhan Institute of Virology

Illnesses inside the Wuhan Institute of Virology (WIV):

The U.S. government has reason to believe that several researchers inside the WIV became sick in autumn 2019, before the first identified case of the outbreak, with symptoms consistent with both COVID-19 and common seasonal illnesses. This raises questions about the credibility of WIV senior researcher Shi Zhengli’s public claim that there was “zero infection” among the WIV’s staff and students of SARS-CoV-2 or SARS-related viruses.
Accidental infections in labs have caused several previous virus outbreaks in China and elsewhere, including a 2004 SARS outbreak in Beijing that infected nine people, killing one.
The CCP has prevented independent journalists, investigators, and global health authorities from interviewing researchers at the WIV, including those who were ill in the fall of 2019. Any credible inquiry into the origin of the virus must include interviews with these researchers and a full accounting of their previously unreported illness.

2. Research at the WIV:

Starting in at least 2016 – and with no indication of a stop prior to the COVID-19 outbreak – WIV researchers conducted experiments involving RaTG13, the bat coronavirus identified by the WIV in January 2020 as its closest sample to SARS-CoV-2 (96.2% similar). The WIV became a focal point for international coronavirus research after the 2003 SARS outbreak and has since studied animals including mice, bats, and pangolins.
The WIV has a published record of conducting “gain-of-function” research to engineer chimeric viruses. But the WIV has not been transparent or consistent about its record of studying viruses most similar to the COVID-19 virus, including “RaTG13,” which it sampled from a cave in Yunnan Province in 2013 after several miners died of SARS-like illness.
WHO investigators must have access to the records of the WIV’s work on bat and other coronaviruses before the COVID-19 outbreak. As part of a thorough inquiry, they must have a full accounting of why the WIV altered and then removed online records of its work with RaTG13 and other viruses.

3. Secret military activity at the WIV:

Secrecy and non-disclosure are standard practice for Beijing. For many years the United States has publicly raised concerns about China’s past biological weapons work, which Beijing has neither documented nor demonstrably eliminated, despite its clear obligations under the Biological Weapons Convention.
Despite the WIV presenting itself as a civilian institution, the United States has determined that the WIV has collaborated on publications and secret projects with China’s military. The WIV has engaged in classified research, including laboratory animal experiments, on behalf of the Chinese military since at least 2017.
The United States and other donors who funded or collaborated on civilian research at the WIV have a right and obligation to determine whether any of our research funding was diverted to secret Chinese military projects at the WIV.

Today’s revelations just scratch the surface of what is still hidden about COVID-19’s origin in China. Any credible investigation into the origin of COVID-19 demands complete, transparent access to the research labs in Wuhan, including their facilities, samples, personnel, and record

All Gupta said was that the virus came from the Wuhan lab. Does that somehow rule out intent on the CCP’s part?

Care to explain how that works?

The two people you’re relying on here are both pointing to accidental release. And they both say it’s all unresolved anyway.

Sad fucking cherry pickers.

CNN Chief Medical Correspondent Dr. Sanjay Gupta has broken ranks with his network to voice support for former CDC Director Dr. Robert Redfield's belief that the virus that causes COVID-19 most likely escaped accidentally from a lab in Wuhan.

_____________

The Deplorables continue to get vindicated on this thing lol.

The pandemic began in the same province that had a world class virology lab. Moreover, Politico was reporting in 2018 that diplomats were warning of risky experiments with *Covid* viruses being done there.

Who wants to bet that the COVID19 virus *didn’t* come from the Wuhan lab?

What sucks? These facts have always been out there and available to anyone with a Google button yet we’ve been fed a constant stream of misinformation and lies in order to cover the asses of the CCP.

Good job, Doctor Gupta. Better late than never.

I am a firm beliver thats what happened , china has a history of issues with its labs and substandard procedures

The U.S. government does not know exactly where, when, or how the COVID-19 virus—known as SARS-CoV-2—was transmitted initially to humans.
