FWIW, my guess is that they wouldn't bring a case if they didn't think they would win due to double jeopardy. Sentencing is up to the judge, of course. Could be anything from a wrist slap on up.

I have yet to encounter a person of any political persuasion who thinks Biden handled the Afghanistan withdrawal well. What did he do wrong? Biden explained that evacuation was going to be very dangerous. He tried to get everyone out before anything horrible happened. he missed by 3 days. He did get 120,000 out. That is quite a success.
Biden is getting us out of a 20-year war. That is good. We lost 2500 in Afghanistan. I am glad we are out.

I'm glad we're out too. The withdrawal was never going to go well no matter who owned it. I remember my dad saying every time he was deployed, "These people have been fighting each other for thousands of years. We can't stop them forever."

My problem with Biden right now, though, is that he has done some spinning on the actual situation. He said that access to the airport is completely clear. People on the ground trying to get to the airport said that that wasn't true. A call to evacuate would always have initiated the Taliban re-takeover, but we should have pre-evacuated more people before we pulled the military. I'm not a war general and I won't presume to play the asshole that all these magtards play on JPP, but it could have been better. And it also could have been worse.

All that matters now is getting the rest of our people (American and otherwise) where they want to be and consoling the veterans and gold star families who are struggling so much right now.
