sep 28 2021 PORTLAND, OR- In response to years of escalating crime, Portland Fire & Rescue (PF&R) is fitting firefighters for ballistic gear and writing a policy for when crews would be required to wear it.

According to reports, PF&R confirmed the city will be ordering 200 bulletproof vests in the near future. Alan Ferschweiler, president of the Portland Firefighters Association, said that concern over criminal attacks among union members has increased in recent years. He added:

“First responders, as they go in, we can become targets. Even if you look at the totality of the city, it’s definitely become a less safe place to work for their firefighters. There’s not way to mince any words.”

I think red state firefighters should wear bullet proof vests. Picture you are in a red state, and wake up in a haze. You are suffering from lack of oxygen, but lacking oxygen, you do not know this. You grab your gun and try to figure out what is happening. Walking through your smoke filled house, you are suddenly grabbed by a man wearing a mask. You do the reasonable thing and shoot repeatedly the firefighter trying to carry you out of the burning house.

I going to guess you have never had to wear one have you. A level 3 vest which s what I had to wear for years is heavy and bulky it restricts movement , while your little scenery is cute its highly unlikely . the reason they are doing this is because of the liberals in Portland are Animals .

The more likely reason to wear one is due to liberals shooting at firefighters emt and cops who are there to help them in a emergency, they even set fires intentionally to draw targets in ans could care less if others die typical liberal fruit cakes, your fellow democrat.

They did such shit in the blm riots
 
I'd quit and become a cop. It's easy to be a cop in Portland. You don't have to do anything like enforce the law.

Firefighter's PPE is between 45 and 75 lbs while the level 3 vest is around 5-6 lbs.

yes pin head I know that. I had to carry my gun 3 spare mags, cuffs, a asp, a glock 19 a radio, flashlight , knife , protective gloves and a cpr mask in florida in summer.
A extra 5 to 6 lbs is a lot pin head when your already loaded down.

Would be a need for it if you fucked up liberals would stop shooting fire fighter responding to a emergency. or one which was caused with the intent of shooting fire man emts and cops like you people do
