<—- This guy is a capitalist and fiscal conservative.
That said, I truly wish folks would take a civics class.
Sayed is a Progressive. He has Democratic Socialist leanings. That s NOT the same as a socialist. Socialists, for one thing, believe in the government ownership of the means of production. That means in a socialist system no one owns their business. Everyone works for the state, as the state is the only thing that owns anything.
Most Democratic Socialists are capitalists. They believe in privately held businesses.
What they do believe in is public programs to resolve common problems. So they are Medicare and Medicaid, Sicial Security, social nets, public education, state run child daycare, etc. All already existing public programs that are democratic socialism in origin.(all of FDR’s “New Deal” programs would be considered “democratic socialism”, by way of example.
Now, I do not personally advocate this approach to all our troubles but I do advocate knowing what is what and the understanding of important terms,; like the difference between a Democratic Socialist and a Marxist Socialist. Again, not the same thing.
