Democratic veteran lawmakers call for return of assault weapons ban!

.22s can kill. They are popular with assassins as they leave no ballistics. But they dont pack a lot of punch so there are fewer targets on a body that will guarantee a kill.
So if you can hit an eyeball, you're golden. If you can hit s head you're better off with a larger calibre.

22LR csn easily penetrate soft tissue in the upper body mass, and will kill you just as dead as any other bullet, sure, it may take two or three shots, but dead is dead. For that matter, a 22LR round has no trouble penetrating bone either, so no, an eyeball shot wouldn't be necessary to kill. You can shoot right through someone skull, no problem. A Ruger10/22 will accept 25 round magazines, a shooter can easily carry half a dozen or more just in his cargo pants pockets. Look up the Cascade Mall shooting, if you want to see a graphic example of this in action. That shooter killed five people in a shopping mall, in literally seconds. He put down the rifle when his single magazine was expended. If he had reloaded, who knows how many he would have killed. This war on assault rifles is nothing more than a way to disarm the citizenry, it will do nothing for public safety.

“Mass shootings are occurring at an alarming rate and will continue unless we stop the easy access to weapons of war,” Democratic Reps. Mikie Sherrill (N.J.) and Jason Crow (Colo) wrote in an op-ed published on Monday in USA Today.

“We’re intimately familiar with assault weapons designed for military use. While serving in the Army and Navy, we both experienced the rigorous training required of all military personnel who carry them. And we know the purpose of a gun that can fire hundreds of rounds in minutes. It’s not for hunting or for civilian self-defense. It’s for warfare.”

..........................................

The pair also touted “common sense” gun laws from their states, highlighting Colorado’s universal background check legislation and New Jersey’s claim to have the “strongest gun laws in the nation.”................................
........................................................

“Since returning home from our tours of duty, we have watched in horror as military assault rifles have found their way into our schools, malls, movie theaters, music festivals and places of worship, giving a single disturbed individual the power to inflict mass casualties. Each time, Americans cry out for leadership while Congress refuses to act,” they wrote.
...........................................

...................
“Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) must stop playing political games and bring gun safety bills to the Senate floor. Senators must have the courage to tell the American people where they stand and not hide behind the majority leader any longer.” ..................................

Nothing this idiots are proposing would do anything to prevent criminals from murdering people. Assault Weapons are already illegal.

comparing handguns to assault rifles is like comparing firecrackers to hand grenades, same old shit from you

You must not be fact based; far more are killed by handguns than any other weapon. Why is it that leftists and the Party of the Jackass don't talk about the gun murder devastation in Democratically controlled urban shit holes like Chicago, Oakland, Baltimore and Detroit?

I commend you for confirming that the reason these weapons are marketed is to satisfy latent Rambo fantasies of social misfits, and other gun nuts.

SmarterThanFEW hardly speaks for most American gun owners and certainly not the NRA. I know that you like how he feeds your stereotype which is a disservice to a vast majority of gun owners, but he represents a small lunatic fringe element.

You would not believe how many times rightwingers have howled in protest if I dare mention their military-style assault rifles are intended to indulge their inner GI Joe, their Rambo fantasies, their inner weekend warrior.

They don't howl you lying fool; they point at you and laugh and give you the FACTS. Facts which dishonest lying leftists like you summarily dismiss and ignore.

Wolverines!

I am hardly surprised your false impressions and lack of facts come from watching too many movies.

You seem to know a lot about it.

SPOT on; but this narrative does give leftists a warm fuzzy feeling of trying to do something, even if it is meaningless like most of their agenda.

Yes, the last assault weapon ban was so effective. The homicide rate was falling when it was implemented and continued to fall after it expired. Same with those states that currently ban assault weapons.

When did I say that scarecrow? You love your strawmen don't you?

I said that? Poor scarecrow; you do love your strawmen don't you?

then maybe you should make alot more sense with bullshit comments, like the difference between the 17th century and the 21st. I mean, seriously, what bullshit are you trying to spew here?

Congress want to show it has taken "bold action" and gun control advocates will be happy they "won."
